- R.PreStamp ** VERSION 2.0 ** 6-10-89 Release
-
- *** I M P O R T A N T ***
-
- If you are using versions prior to 2.0 please remove and use 2.0.
-
- R.PreStamp 2.0 is a complete re-write. Older versions for
- some known and unknown reasons were dropping to the finder. Not
- everyone had this problem. It all depended on where you ran it
- in the event chain..
-
- Being unable to find a solid reason WHY (other than an invalid
- default VolID). I decided enough was enough. 2.0 is new from the
- ground floor up. There is not one line of orginal code left.
- It is all brand spank'in new! New Bullet Proof launch routine
- checks everything including your mothers maiden name before it
- does jack shit.
-
- If R.PreStamp 2.0 (heaven forbid) drops to finder, it has one hell
- of a good reason to (USER ERROR - invalid Info supplied to it).
- Keep a look out for a File Called R.PreStamp.Error. If R.PreStamp 2.0
- comes across something it does not understand (Like if you mothers
- maiden name was 'Smith' then it is going to tell all about its
- little problem in this file. Usually looking at this file will
- help you solve your problem in seconds.
-
- R.PreStamp 2.0 has a new Launch.Module (Which will be incorporated
- into all my utilities) that does 3 levels of error checking and
- recovery, before it gives up and drops you to finder.
-
- Level 1. Checks and attempts to run Next Event application
- Level 2. Checks and attempts to run BBS application
- Level 3. Checks and attempts to run TabbyNet
-
- Level 4. Will tell all about the problem in the
- R.PreStamp.Error File.
-
- All Error Reports in the R.PreStamp.Error File are extremely
- descriptive and should help you solve the problem at a glance.
-
-
- R.PreStamp Fixes/Cleans up your callerlog. It formats the
- network mail events, so they conform to the format used
- throughout host and other utilities.

-
- Before you put R.PreStamp 2.0 in your event chain you will need
- to configure it.
-
- To configure:
-
- Launch it (Double Click on application) and hold
- down the mouse key while it loads. This will bring
- up the Configure Menu.
-
- *** READ this section if your pathnames are greater than 35 chars long ***
- *****************
- ****** WARNING** If you have pathnames longer than 35 chars, you will
- ****** have to configure R.PreStamp slighly different. (You might want to
- ****** consider renaming Red Ryder Host to just Plain RRH or Host).
- ****** PreStamp, R.PreStamp, Epistle, Sapphire, Tabby Engines all are
- ****** based on full pathnames (this ensures the most reliablity). But
- ****** in doing full pathnames we limit launch paths to 35 characters
- ****** or less. (Anything deeper will bomb). For you guys with Host
- ****** baried 4 and 5 folders deep here is the solution: (remember:
- ****** this will work, but you loose some reliablity - if something
- ****** before R.PreStamp screws with the default volume ID, then R.PreStamp
- ****** may drop to the finder - but a R.PreStamp.error log will be created,
- ****** telling you the exact reasons why. SOLUTION: In the BBS Field,
- ****** type in your BBS Name Only (HOST). In the BBS Folder type in
- ****** only a colon (:). In the CallerLog Field, type in only the
- ****** Callerlog Name (CallerLog). If your callerlog is not at the
- ****** same level as RRH or its full path is greater than 35 then
- ****** you will have to move it to the same folder as RRH. Otherwise
- ****** use its full pathname (dd80:bbs:Log:CallerLog). In the Connect
- ****** Field type in one of the valid strings 300-19200. And Save
- ****** you settings. This setup assumes RRH, TabbyNet, Callerlog,
- ****** Next.Launch and the application in the launch chain are all
- ****** located in the same folder as R.PreStamp.

-
- There are 4 STRs that need to changed.
-
- 1660 BBS - This is YOUR BBS's NAME!! (Red Ryder Host)
- 1661 BBS Folder - This is the PATHNAME to your BBS (dd80:bbs:)
- ** Must end in a Colon : **
- 1662 CallerLog - This is the FULL PATHNAME to your Callerlog
- (dd80:bbs:log:CallerLog)
- 1663 Connect - This is the connect string to be printed in the
- callerlog. This can be 300/1200/2400/9600/19200.
- I use 19200 so I can determine how many network
- mail events have taken place, when archie is Run.
- (19200). DO NOT INCUDE THE "(" ")"
-
- Fill in the information as it relates to your Setup
- and Click on SAVE to save the information to DISK.
-
- R.PreStamp 2.0 is now ready to run. Place it as the first application
- in your Tabby Robot event chain STR# 301. See Tabby Docs on how to
- modify this STR#. R.PreStamp 2.0 runs so fast (it has been slowed
- down you can see what is happening), that it is not necessary to
- run BusyOut first.
-
- Event Chains should look something like this:
-
- R.PreStamp,BusyOut,TabbyNet,TabbyNet Send...........
- or
- BusyOut,R.PreStamp,TabbyNet,TabbyNet Send...........
-
-
- That is it folks. If you should accept this mission GOOD LUCK!
-
-
-
-
- NOTES: Watch what CDEVs and INITs you are running. Known conflicts
- with 1.4 and previous versions: S.A.M. Interceptor
-
- 2.0 uses absolute pathnames for everything. No more
- erronious changing VolID's to worry about. If you find
- a conflict or have a problem let me know. R.PreStamp 2.0
- has been tested successfully with S.A.M. set at its
- highest level.
-
- If PreStamp physically BOMBS - THAT is the sure sign you
- assigned an invalid pathname, your Hard Drive Name ???:BBS:
- is wrong!
-
- R.PreStamp 2.0 is Free. No Fee is required. But I would like to
- know who is running it. If you decide to use it drop me a line
- in the Tabby or RRH echoes. Let know what you think of R.PreStamp.
-
- IDEA's are always welcomed for new tabby event applications.
