  26. GoldWave is sound editor, player, recorder, and converter
  27. for MS-Windows.

  74. 2.0 Installation, Uninstall

  77. 2.1) Installation
  78.  
  79. Use Program Manager to create a new icon for GoldWave.
  80.  
  81. Copy the following files to your WINDOWS directory:
  82.     express.eqx
  83.     gwpreset.ini
  84.  
  85. Search your system for the file BWCC.DLL.  If you find any
  86. copies, check the date.  If the BWCC.DLL file included with
  87. GoldWave is newer, replace all old copies with the one
  88. included with GoldWave.  Copy GoldWave to the windows\system
  89. directory if it is not there already.  You should restart
  90. Windows to remove any old copies from memory.

  93. 2.2) Uninstall
  94.  
  95. Delete the following files from your WINDOWS directory:
  96.     express.eqx
  97.     gwpreset.ini
  98.     goldwave.ini
  99. Other files are listed in section 4.0.

  101. Generally, BWCC.DLL should not be deleted from the 
  102. WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory as it may be required by other
  103. applications.

  107. 3.0 Important Additional Notes
  108. --------------------------------------------------------------
  109.  
  110. 3.1) GoldWave requires a minimum of a 386 processor.  A fast
  111. 486 or Pentium processor is recommended.
  112.  
  113. 3.2) VOC files are saved using version 1.20 format.
  114. GoldWave will only use the older VOC format if the sound
  115. is mono 8-bit with a sampling rate less than 23000Hz.
  116. If a VOC file saved by GoldWave becomes incompatible with
  117. your Sound Blaster driver:
  118.     1)    Open the file in GoldWave
  119.     2)    Make sure the sampling rate is less than 23000Hz.
  120.     If it is not, use Effects | Resample to convert
  121.     to a lower sampling rate.
  122.     3)    Use File | Save as to save the file as mono unsigned
  123.     8-bit VOC.
  124. If possible, you should get a copy of the latest Sound
  125. Blaster drivers (ftp.creaf.com).
  126.  
  127. 3.3) GoldWave now makes use of more of the RIFF WAVE
  128. standard file format.  New chunks such as the 'cue ' and
  129. LIST 'adtl' are included to store cue points.  These chunks
  130. are stored at the end of the WAVE file to minimize problems
  131. with some programs that do not correctly read/ignore WAVE
  132. chunks.  Cues are stored only in Wave files.  If you
  133. encounter problems with other programs, report the problem
  134. to the developers of the other program.

  136. 3.4) In RAM storage mode, the largest file you can open
  137. depends upon how much RAM you have for Windows.  This does
  138. not include virtual memory.  Use Hard disk mode when
  139. editing large files (Options | File).
  140.  
  141. 3.5) In order to get the scope working correctly, you might
  142. have to change the positioning method in the Device Setup
  143. dialog box.
  144.  
  145. 3.6) GoldWave includes a recent version of BWCC.DLL
  146. from Borland.  GoldWave checks for this version of BWCC.DLL
  147. (or a newer one).  If you get an error message, you should
  148. delete any older copies of BWCC.DLL or replace them with the
  149. one included with GoldWave.  You may have to restart Windows
  150. to remove the older BWCC.DLL from memory.  Only one copy of
  151. BWCC.DLL is needed and should be kept in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  152. directory.

  154. 3.7) If GoldWave crashes during playback or recording,
  155. contact your sound card manufacturer to obtain an updated
  156. driver.  Some drivers are available from the World Wide Web.
