  1. Basic five-card stud is played, except that there is a betting round after the first cards are dealt face down, and another after each round of face-up cards is dealt, making five betting rounds in all.  (Five-card stud normally has four betting rounds.)  When playing conservatively, this game gives you the opportunity to fold after the first bad card.  As in five-card stud, a pair usually wins.
