Arts & Letters BOSS Font Manager
The BOSS Font Manager is a utility for managing TrueType« and
PostScript« Type 1 fonts on your computer system under Windows
95/98/ME/NT or 2000.
INSTALLATION
The InstallShield installation process should begin automatically
shortly after you insert the BOSS CD in your CD-ROM drive. If the
autorun feature in Windows is turned off, you can manually start
the install process by double-clicking on the setup.exe program
in the root directory on the CD-ROM.
Note: Installing the Font Manager does not install any fonts on
your system. The fonts are installed using the Font Manager.
USER'S GUIDE
We encourage you to print and read the BOSS Fonts Manager User's
Guide in Adobe PDF format (UG_FontMgr.pdf) that can be found in
the FontMgr directory on this CD-ROM.
If the install program does not detect that Adobe Acrobat Reader
is installed on your computer, the installation program will ask
you if you want it installed from the BOSS CD.
The User's Guide is also included as a MS WORD file
(UG_FontMgr.doc) in the root directory on the CD-ROM.
Once you start the BOSS Font Manager, you can view the User's
Guide by clicking on the Guide button in the upper right
corner of the interface. The ReadMe.doc file is installed in the
BossFonts directory. Add additional comments and notes to the
document for future reference.
OVERVIEW
Do NOT overload your system with too many fonts!
The recommended limit is 600 fonts. The Font Manager will alert
you if you attempt to install additional fonts and the number of
fonts already installed exceeds 700.
POSTSCRIPT FONTS:
If you are planning to use PostScript Fonts, you will need to
have ATM (Adobe Type Manager) version 2.5 or greater installed
on your system.
WINDOWS NT and 2000 PERMISSIONS:
To install and uninstall fonts, you must have write permissions
and delete permissions for "INI" files and the Font Section of
the Registry. Your system administrator can add them to your
login user account (if you do not already have permission).
While you cannot install fonts without the appropriate
permissions, you can view and print fonts using the Font Manager
in any of the three groups (levels of permissions)
- Administrator, Power Users and Users except as a User under
Windows 2000.
BOSS FONTS:
Thousands of TrueType and PostScript fonts are stored on this CD
in the directory fonts and subdirectories TT and PS. The fonts
are identical in both directories so you have your choice of
using TrueType or PostScript. As PostScript requires ATM, it
may be more convenient to use the TrueType variations of the
fonts.
