  6. Since this is not currently on the Aminet, I though it was about time
  7. someone uploaded it.  There have been some requests for it lately on
  8. comp.sys.amiga.audio.  The midi.library was developed by Bill Barton back
  9. in the 80's in the hopes that the Amiga community would standardize on
  10. the way to access MIDI through the Amiga's operating system.  While this
  11. may not have happened, many people, including myself, have developed
  12. MIDI software with this well thought out library of easy to use functions.

  14. Anyhow, here is the original development distribution that Bill posted on
  15. the BBS's (we didn't have The Net back then).  The only change I made was
  16. to unARC it and store all the files in an LHA file.  Better compression, and
  17. some of you out there probably don't even know what ARC is, much less how to
  18. get something unARCed.

  20. I have used the midi.library with OS 1.3 and 3.0 and it works just fine with
  21. both, so you shouldn't have any trouble.  Obviously, Bill developed well
  22. behaved code that adhered to Amiga system standards. :-)

  24. That's about it.  Now aren't you glad that I didn't throw those old floppies
  25. with my PD collection from way back when fast Amiga's had 020's in them.

  32. NOTE:  Please don't badger me (get it?) with all sorts of questions about how
  33. to use the library.  I'm posting it as a service to the Amiga community.  I'm
  34. not supporting it.

  36. NOTE2:  If anyone knows where Bill Barton is, it would be nice to have the
  37. midi.library source posted on Aminet.  Maybe a version modified for multiple
  38. midi ports.
