  6. fMSX Amiga is an Amiga port of fMSX UNIX. It emulates the MSX computer
  7. system. The emulation requires an 68020 and the v36 OS (or better). Fastram
  8. is not required but essential for good performance.
  9.  
  10. 'MSX' is an 8-bit computer system with surprisingly good graphics and sound
  11. capabilities. MSX emulation is far easier than C64 emulation and can
  12. therefore be done with very good result; however, the results look far
  13. better than (for example) Spectrum emulations could ever hope for.
  14.  
  15. In fact, some MSX games are on par with Amiga games when it comes to
  16. graphics and playability! Several MSX pictures have been uploaded to aminet
  17. (pix/illu/msx_emu.lha).

  19. Depending on the task at hand it is about as fast as a real MSX on my
  20. a4000/30, sometimes even a tad faster.

  22. The MSX1 system is completely emulated. Many MSX2 features are also
  23. supported, and some MSX2 games (though not all) are in fact playable: Metal
  24. Gear, Firebird, Vampire Killer and Kings Valley 2 MSX2 fall in this category.

  26. New features in this release include extensive tape support, the ability to
  27. create diskimages, sprites in screen 7, and many bug fixes (the important of
  28. which is that fMSX will no longer hang while changing screenmode).

  30. Many games for MSX are available through FTP or WWW. Sitenames can be found
  31. in the documentation.
