- GCFonts are a font set that I created to replace Topaz.
-
- The font has a single pixel stroke style that, even in the small
- sizes, has good readability while saving window area. For example
- an 80 column by 24 line text window need only be 504x240 including
- title bar, message area and scroll bar when rendered in GC611/9.
-
- The files represent sizes 6x8, 6x9, 6x11, 7x11, 8x8, and 8x11.
-
- GC611/9 works quite well for Workbench 3.1 and as a default font.
-
- I use Leo Schwabe's NoPaz to replace the Topaz 8x8 font with
- GC811/8. This works for some Workbench requesters and font unaware
- applications, including games.
-
- I discovered that many font rigid applications use any 8x11 font if
- it resides in "Fonts:Topaz" and is named "Fonts:Topaz/11". Examples of
- these applications are TransWrite and ProDraw both when rendering text
- in high res interlaced screens.
-
- To impliment GC811/11 useage in this manner I suggest:
- Save the old Topaz fonts for reference...
- rename
- "Fonts:Topaz" directory to "Fonts:TopazDefault"
- rename
- "Fonts:Topaz.font" file to "Fonts:TopazDefault.font"
- To enable GC811/11 to take over as the default 8x11 font...
- make a new directory
- "Fonts:Topaz"
- copy "Fonts:GC811/11" file
- move "Fonts:GC811/copy of 11" file into the new "Fonts:Topaz" directory
- rename "Fonts:Topaz/copy of 11" to "Fonts:Topaz/11"
-
- After playing with the font files, don't forget to run FixFonts.
