Here are some quick pointers to get you running:
- Be sure to set the GE environment variable, so DESKCFG can import
data from the GEcho configuration.
- For complete understanding of DESK, it's a very, very good idea to
at least read the documentation once.
- Fire up DESKCFG, check all fields.
- The SCHEDULE.DAT included gives some samples of how the scheduler
can be used.
- Run "DESK Read" after any echomail toss, to keep the statistics
accurate.
- Run "DESK Pack" in your daily maintenance event, to keep the database
up to date.
If you find a problem with DESK, which you can't solve by reading the
documentation first, you can contact me or one of the DESK registration
sites for help (see registration for addresses). If you think you've
found a bug, please send your DESK.DAT, DESK.IDX, SCHEDULE.DAT and
DESK.CFG files, along with a description to me. This way I can try to
trace the problem.
The password for DESKS.122 is "LetsGo" (enter it without the quotes).
I hope DESK lives up to your expectations! Have fun!
Regards,
Donald Heering, author of DESK.
