  9.    If you have registered FrontDoor 2.11, your registration code will
  10.    NOT work with this version of FrontDoor. All registration sites have
  11.    received the new registration codes. If you have not yet received it,
  12.    please contact the site where you registered 2.11. Once you receive
  13.    the new code, use the new FDSETUP (2.12) and enter your registration
  14.    code once again.

  16.    Please refer to the files in the REGISTER archive for information
  17.    about how to obtain your personal registration code.

  20.    On with the show, what's the news?
  21.    ----------------------------------

  23.    This release is a maintenance release, intended to fix bugs that were
  24.    found in 2.11. Some new features have,  however, been added. Apart
  25.    from the notice above regarding the registration codes for 2.11, you
  26.    should simply unpack all the program files (.EXE and .OVR) on top of
  27.    the old ones. If you are upgrading from 2.02/Noncommercial, you must
  28.    first obtain FrontDoor 2.11 and follow the upgrade procedures given
  29.    in the archive.

  31.    The following is a list of fixes and new features:
  32.  
  33.    GLOBAL
  34.  
  35.      - Fixed problem with extended modem responses for 21600, 24000,
  36.        26400, and 28800 baudrates.
  37.  
  38.      - Added automatic recognition of CD-ROM drives (controlled by
  39.        MSCDEX or similar driver) so that path resolution is not
  40.        attempted on such pathnames. If you used NORES just to get
  41.        around this problem, you can now stop using it.
  42.  
  43.    FDSETUP
  44.  
  45.      - The "Delay before first call" option has been moved to the
  46.        event behavior to allow this to be set for specific events.
  47.  
  48.      - The minimum "Seconds before passing to BBS" has been restored
  49.        to 11 as requested by a few users. The default, however, is
  50.        still 30.
  51.  
  52.      - Because the modem response handling in the Mailer has been re-
  53.        written, you may have to change your Answer Delay setting if
  54.        you use the Manual Answer and LDFRS features of the Mailer.
  55.  
  56.      - Added "NoDial" setting to Modem Manager. If the Mailer makes a
  57.        match with an entry that has this flag set, the dial attempt is
  58.        immediately aborted and the mail bundle is placed on Hold. This
  59.        allows you to prevent the Mailer from calling specific systems
  60.        based on nodelist flags, baudrates, or specific network
  61.        addresses. This is not supported in the Terminal.
  62.  
  63.      - The use of the '|' and '/' characters in modem responses is no
  64.        longer required to allow the Mailer to distinguish between,
  65.        for example, CONNECT 1200 and CONNECT 12000; nor is the '|'
  66.        character required after the "CONNECT 300" definition, if
  67.        previously defined as "CONNECT|".

  70.    MAILER
  71.  
  72.      - The NOFTSC1 command-line switch and FDOPT option has been
  73.        renamed to NOFTS1 to conform with FDSETUP's Security Manager
  74.        screen.
  75.  
  76.      - The "Lock Keyboard" (<AltL> or /L: command-line parameter)
  77.        function is NO longer case INsensitive, e.g. specifying
  78.        "KBDlock" will not unlock the keyboard if it was locked with
  79.        "kbdlock".
  80.  
  81.      - The 'v' (lowercase V) character forces the Mailer to lower the
  82.        DTR signal and the '^' character forces the Mailer to raise the
  83.        DTR signal, when encountered in any of the modem command
  84.        strings. The '`' character is translated to a 0.5s pause ('~'
  85.        is still a 1.0s pause). This is also supported in the Script
  86.        language and the Terminal's initialization string.
  87.  
  88.      - Because of the above changes, the command "SENDNOXLAT" has been
  89.        added to the script language. This command will transmit the
  90.        specified string untranslated to the modem. Mnemonics (i.e.
  91.        <CR>) are still, however, supported by the SENDNOXLAT command.

  93.      - The "PROTOCOL:" and "COMPRESSION:" modem responses returned by
  94.        some modems are now supported and translated to one-line
  95.        messages such as LAPM (for LAP-M), MNP, etc.
  96.  
  97.      - The following new macros have been added to the External
  98.        Request Processor and Service Request interface:
  99.  
  100.          =M  Same as =F but without a path (the file is always located
  101.              in the FrontDoor SYSTEM directory).
  102.  
  103.          =W  Translates to "LISTED" or "UNLISTED" depending on whether
  104.              or not the remote system was found in your Nodelist
  105.              Database. For outbound sessions, =W will always
  106.              translated to "LISTED".
  107.  
  108.          =Q  Same as =R but without a path (this is only available in
  109.              the ERP interface).
  110.  
  111.          =E  Same as =T but without a path (this is only available in
  112.              the ERP interface).
  113.  
  114.          =Y  The current TASK= setting. For the Shareware version,
  115.              this will always be '0' (zero).
  116.  
  117.    TERMINAL
  118.  
  119. <+>  - Added support for "Auto Doorway Mode". If enabled, the Terminal
  120.        will enter raw keyboard mode upon receipt of the <Esc>[=255h
  121.        sequence and exit raw keyboard mode upon receipt of the
  122.        <Esc>[=255l sequence. The terminal emulation protocol must be
  123.        ANSI for these sequences to be honored by the Terminal.
  124.  
  125.      - The Terminal no longer enables FOSSIL software flow control.
  126.        The Ctrl-S (XOFF) and Ctrl-Q (XON) keys will, however, function
  127.        as before.
  128.  
  129.      - The ten minute timer, after which the Terminal returns to the
  130.        Mailer if it was invoked with <Alt-J>, is now configurable in
  131.        the Terminal settings screen in FDSETUP.
  132.  
  133.      - The Terminal Phone Directory would not allow you to add more
  134.        than 100 entries. The correct limit is 400 entries.
  135.  
  136.      - The Terminal now includes the complete time elapsed since the
  137.        start of a connection as opposed to just minutes and seconds.
  138.  
  139.      - <Alt=> can now be used to toggle the state of "Raw mode". This
  140.        means that <Alt=> cannot be transmitted in "Raw mode". This
  141.        was added for use in those environments where ScrollLock has a
  142.        defined function.
  143.  
  144.    EDITOR
  145.  
  146.      - A new editor macro has been added (~W). It is identical to the
  147.        ~X (Export to file) macro with the exception that it does not
  148.        include the message header information. This can be used with
  149.        spell checkers and external conversion and translation
  150.        utilities.
  151.  
  152. <+>  - The ability to specify whether or not you want ^A (extended
  153.        message information) lines to be included when you export a
  154.        message with <AltF2> (or from the Message Survey function) is
  155.        now available in the Shareware version.
