  4. Introduction:
  5.     FNLScan facilitates the search of the Fidonet nodelist for a variety of
  6.     criteria, enabling you to quickly and easily find other BBS systems in the
  7.     Fidonet network.
  8.  
  9. General Operation:
  10.     Select an option from the main menu (the options are described in more
  11.     detail below). Enter the parameter that you want to search for; in the case
  12.     of text searches, it is not necessary to enter the entire text. A fragment
  13.     of a name or phrase is all that is required.

  15.     At any time during the search routine, you can stop the scanning by
  16.     pressing Ctrl-X or Ctrl-K.

  18. Options:
  19.     Search nodelist by BBS name
  20.         This function will scan the entire Fidonet nodelist, attempting to
  21.         match the BBS name in the nodelist to the BBS name (or fragment) you
  22.         request.
  23.     Search nodelist by sysop name
  24.         This function will scan the entire Fidonet nodelist, attempting to
  25.         match the sysop's name in the nodelist to the sysop name (or fragment)
  26.         you request.
  27.     Search nodelist by city
  28.         This function will scan the entire Fidonet nodelist, attempting to
  29.         match the city in the nodelist to the city name (or fragment) you
  30.         request.
  31.     Search nodelist by area code
  32.         This function will scan the entire Fidonet nodelist, attempting to
  33.         match the area code of the phone numbers in the nodelist to the area
  34.         code you request.
  35.     Search nodelist by zone and net
  36.         This function will scan the entire Fidonet nodelist, attempting to
  37.         match the network in the nodelist to the network you defined by zone
  38.         and net number.
  39.     Search nodelist entries for text
  40.         This function will scan the entire Fidonet nodelist, attempting to
  41.         match any field in the nodelist entry to the text fragment you request.
  42.     Toggle to long/short node display mode
  43.         Two modes of display are available, long and short. The default is
  44.         short, which displays the address, BBS name, sysop name, phone number
  45.         and node status. The long format adds a second line which includes the
  46.         city and modem information, but is slightly slower scanning the
  47.         nodelist. Note that the display mode has no effect on the scan
  48.         parameters.
