-=( HandyMan documentation )=-
Excuses:
========
Sorry.. Not a real documentation, more a collection of notes on the parts
of Handy that needs them. Most of the functions speak for them self, a few
need some explenation. But first.. BragTime!
Features:
=========
■ Quiet interface.
■ Easy to use menu system, but also shortcuts for the most used functions.
■ A view ALL nodes in one graph feature. Gives an overview of the usage
of all the nodes in one screen.
■ Also the TimeLog.BBS Graphs per node.
■ Buildin eventmanager for up to 16 evens. Set time and day of week.
■ 16 slots for external utilities. put Race, your email editor, a local
login etc. as external in the menu... Every external can have it's own
password.
■ Externals and Jump to dos leave only some 300 bytes in low-memory. The
rest goes to EMS/XMS/Disk.. With special thanks to Ralf Brown and his
SPAWNO41..
■ Auto keyboard locking. If you've put a password in the CONFIG.RA, this
password is used by handy too.. For all the important features, this
password has to be typed. BUT giving the password unlockes the keyboard
for sometime. Not touching the keyboard for that time, and click. The
Keyboard is locked again.
■ Fallback from menu to "Who's online" screen (When not waiting for imput)
■ Build in editor for online messages. Max 10Kb...;-)
■ up to 10 pre-cooked onlinemsgs.
■ Desqview awear
■ Lots and lots of more.. See for yourself..
■ Buildin no-nosense screensaver
Installation:
=============
Rename the HANDYMAN.DEM file to HANDYMAN.INI and read it. All the options
are explained in the INI file. Defaults are given. Appart from the INI file
the Environment variable RA= should be available. (That is, unless you
run the program from the RA system directory).
All handyman's supportfiles should be in the same directory as the EXE file.
Notes:
======
■ Handyman can handle up to 20 nodes. (numbered 1..20!) Everybody who
uses more lines tell me..;-) (And send me a free copy of the main
program/hardware/whatever your firm sells...;))
■ External program's detect themself if the programname is a program or
a batch or BTM file. For BATCH and BTM's the commandinterpreter is loaded
with the /C parameter. You can force this behavior for other programs bij
starting the programname with an exlamation mark. (!)
This goes for externals and events.
■ If you want a hotkey in the Externals menu, put a tilde in front of the
key when editing the menutitle.
F.e. ~Local logon
As menutitle, will use the L of local as hotkey.
■ Note that the lastcall.bbs info is reset every night.. Best time to view
the graph is some minutes before 00:00.
■ The TimeLog graphs are not glorified. They show absolute values (that is,
as absolute as they get..;) I wanted to make it easy to compare them..
■ You can have a special VIP list for Handy, or use the OtherVIP keyword
to use the RA VIP list.
Legalties:
==========
Not to much. Use this program at your own risk. Never will the programmer be
responsible for any misfortune this program causes.
This program is cardware. Send me a nice postcard if you continue to use this
program. If you have ideas, put them on a postcard and send them. I don't
garanthee a thing and I prefer to keep handyman a tool, not a toy.. but you
can always try..;-) Anyway, if you mis something, first see if you can't
install it as external. If that's possible, Probably that was also the reason
why it wasn't build in.. FM f.e. is much better that a buildin msgeditor
ever will get....
Enjoy!
