RyNEWF V 1.0
Copyright 1993 Douglas DeLonay
RyNEWF is a shareware product. If you try it out and plan on using it a
registration fee is required. For more information on registration go to the
end of the file.
Though I took care to see that this software is error free I can not be
responsible for any damage that you believe is caused by your use of this
software. All responsibility lies with you the user of this product.
RyNEWF supports multi-node BBS's and using file locking to assure file
integrety. If you use the multi-node option you will need to add the correct
commandline option. For RYBBS SYSOP's you'll need to put
RyNEWF %1NODE
as a commandline option. Also RYBBS sysops using the multi-node option will
need to add the %NODE command to your menu command that calls the batch file
for RyNEWF. i.e.
SRUN,N,5,5, [N]ew files ,*RyNEWF %NODE
For non-RYBBS users of RyNEWF just put NODE as the command line..
RyNEWF NODE
SHARE.EXE MUST be loaded for the multi-node option to work. If SHARE isn't
loaded and you have the multi-node options set you will get sveveral error
messages, and then the program will abort. Multi-node users see the discussion
about naming the configuration file.
You can specify the path to the door drop file via the command line if you
wish. use the FPATH option
RyNEWF FPATH[file path]
Do not include the filename. Filename is specified in the CFG file only.
If you use this option make sure you do not have the path listed in the CFG
file. You can specify file path in CFG file only if you don't use this option.
RyNEWF is a new file lister. It is mainly meant to be used in first.bat
for users to scan for new files at log-on instead of having to go to the file
menu to scan for them. RyNEWF using download.bbs to tell it were the file
directories are. It will also use the security settings in download.bbs to
decide wither to scan the directory or not. RyNEWF has an extra security
option. You can tell RyNEWF which file directories to scan via the .CFG file.
In this case it will still use the security field in download.bbs to decide
wither to show it. The first time a user uses RyNEWF it will scan using a date
one year prior to the date they are on. After that it will scan from the last
time they used RyNEWF. So if they don't scan using RyNEWF when logged on the
date used to scan will not change. It does not use last log-on date.
make a configuration file that ends with '.CFG'. The name of the
configuration file is command line definable. i.e. To have RyNEWF accept a
.CFG file called MYFILE.CFG just put the filename on the commandline like so
RyNEWF MYFILE.CFG
If you leave out this commandline option RyNEWF will by default try to locate
RyNEWF.CFG as the configuration file. The command line option would be most
usefull to multi-node BBS's that don't want to copy there dropfiles to the
RyNEWF directory.
\rybbs\curruser ;path to dropfile *
\rybbs\download.bbs ;path to download.bbs-must include filename
1,2,5 ;line numbers in download.bbs to scan
The Home of ZIGGY ;name of BBS no trailing or leading
;spaces please. Will display
;'<UNREGISTERED>' instead of BBS name until
; registered.
*supports drop files- curruser.bbs(x), door.sys, and dorinfo1.def
Do not include path if using commandline FPATH option.
Dorinfo1.def and door.sys file users must include the filename and extension.
RYBBS SYSOP's DO NOT put in the extension. RyNEWF will determine the correct
extension for RYBBS curruser file by using the NODE instructions discussed
earlier.
To call RyNEWF first make sure all the RyNEWF files are in the same
directory, and call RyNEWF from that directory.
You can leave the third line blank if you want to have RyNEWF scan all
directories according to security only. If you don't want RyNEWF to scan
certain directories at all you must list all the line numbers of the
directories you want to scan. i.e.
1,3,5,7 <--line 3 of RyNEWF.CFG
say you have 10 lines in your download.bbs file. The above would scan
the directories in line one, three, five, and seven according to security.
Lines 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 10 wouldn't be looked at all.
Has the ability to use fossil driver. adding FOSSIL to the command line
will tell RyNEWF to attempt to use fossil driver. If fossil driver isn't
loaded RyNEWF will attempt to use it's own interrupt port routines. By
default RyNEWF will leave fossil active. Adding a U top the FOSSIL command
will tell RyNEWF to unload the fossil driver on exit.
i.e. RyNEWF FOSSILU -use fossil driver and unload on exit
RyNEWF FOSSIL -use fossil driver and leave it loaded
You may also want to try my last caller lister. It is very versatile. can
add comments, show user time on in military or 24 hour format, plus much more.
Another fine Door by me is NECKTI. A very nice hangman type door. Can
challenge computer and/or user. Many sysop options.
You can always get a hold of the latest version on my BBS
