Hiya Guys and Gals,
Installation
------------
Installing this baby should be painless. You will need to give it your
highest node number, like this for a 5 node system:
SMIXER!.COM N5
NOTE: this is the highest node number, NOT the number of nodes. A board with
nodes 1, 2, 3, and 5 would still use N5.
SabreMixer! will detect NetBIOS and IPX, choosing IPX over NetBIOS. You can
force NetBIOS or IPX on the command line with E or I respectively.
SabreMixer! will not check to see if the network in question is installed when
forced (so this is also useful if SabreMixer! is having problems finding your
network).
Also note that SabreMixer! has to be loaded BEFORE the multitasker but AFTER
the network. I plan on having it scream if it finds DV in memory when
installing to prevent this lil episode.
Run-Time
--------
From then on, SabreChat! should find the mixer in memory when it runs. You
can check this by hitting F4 when in SChat!. You should see <MXR!> on the
Options line. Do NOT tell Schat! to use the network! Let it find the Mixer
find it all by itself.
Removing SabreMixer!
--------------------
You can remove SabreMixer! from memory by using U on the command line. Make
sure, however, that no other node on that computer is going to need it (as in
DESQview setup).
Problems
--------
Once operating, a few problems can occur. The most annoying being that you
may start missing characters every once and a while if you have lots of nodes
and one of them is on the server. If this happens alot, then please tell me.
I'd like to find some way to prevent this from happening. The next version of
SabreMixer! will have the double-checking feature that SabreChat! has to help
cut down on some of this. If you receive lots of garbage or SabreChat! seems
to take off on it's own, then check your N? parameter on SMIXER!.COM and make
sure it's not less than your current node number. If not, then try using the
B? option to make a bigger buffer. It defaults to B80, but if you are having
lots of garbage when someone types real quick, try moving it up to B256 or
higher. If this doesn't fix it then we must have a coding bug (what!??!
neeever). Try to get a hold of me or netmail me and I'll see what I can do.
Afterwards
----------
That's all for now... If this is difficult to understand then drop me a
netmail and I'll try to help you out, or if you have already figured it out,
at least I'll know what to fix in the doc so that people can understand. This
is true about any of the doc's or screen's. Thanks Guys and Gals.
