  7. ASSEMBLER:        You shoot yourself in the foot.
  8.  
  9. ADA:              The Department of Defense shoots you in the foot,
  10.                   after offering you a blindfold and a last cigarette.
  11.  
  12. BASIC (interpreted):   You shoot yourself in the foot with a water
  13.                  pistol until your leg is waterlogged and your foot
  14.                  falls off.
  15.  
  16. BASIC (compiled):  You shoot yourself in the foot with a BB using
  17.                  a SCUD missle launcher.
  18.  
  19. C++:             You create a dozen instances of yourself and shoot them
  20.                  all in the foot.  Not knowing which feet are real,
  21.                  medical help is impossible.

  23. COBOL:           USE HANDGUN.COLT(45), AIM AT LEG.FOOT, THEN WITH
  24.                  ARM.HAND.FINGER ON HANDGUN.COLT(TRIGGER) PERFORM

  33.                  of the gun is the one that is scheduled to actually
  34.                  shoot bullets.

  36. FORTRAN:         You shoot your self in each toe, iteratively, until
  37.                  you run out of toes.  You shoot the 6th bullet
  38.                  anyway since no exception processing was anticipated.

  40. Modula-2:        You perform a shooting on what might be currently a
  41.                  foot with what might be currently a bullet shot by
  42.                  what might be currently a gun.

  44. PASCAL:          Same as Modula-2, except that the bullet is not of
  45.                  the right type for the gun and your hand is blown off.
  46.  
  47. PL/1:            After consuming all system resources including bullets,
  48.                  the data processing department doubles its size, acquires
  49.                  2 new mainframes and drops the original on your foot.
  50.  
  51. Smalltalk, Actor, et. al:  After playing with the graphics for 3
  52.                  weeks the programming manager shoots you in the head.
