  5. Program        Description

  7. ALLOW          This package comprises a small modification along with two
  8.                  executables. What it is, is the fastest, most versatile,
  9.                  and easiest to install dupe- or trash-file search mod
  10.                  ever made for WWIV.
  11. BBSLST         External BBS list program. Can be used to externalize the
  12.                  internal code or run as a chain. Supports multiple BBS
  13.                  types (FIDO, PCBOARD, QBBS, etc).
  14. CHECK          Virus-scanning and zip-(un)commenting upload event utility
  15.                  for WWIV.
  16. DOSEMUL        Dos emulation at logon. Useful for scaring people or allowing
  17.                  people some access to the system without logging on
  18.                  completely.
  19. EGAVGA         Throws your system into condensed-line mode if you have an
  20.                  EGA or VGA monitor. Can be used to run the BBS in these
  21.                  modes (though some external programs will switch the BBS
  22.                  to 25-line mode).
  23. ENHANCE        A great many nice enhancement functions for WWIV 4.20 or
  24.                  higher. Fully documented source, with examples.
  25. ESM            External Strings Manager. Modification and datafile editor.
  26.                  Reduces data segment (DGROUP) usage in WWIV. Small
  27.                  registration fee.
  28. LOOK           Allows one to view files with WWIV ^P codes with their proper
  29.                  colors, from DOS.
  30. MBM            Message Base Manager. Allows easily management of the subs on
  31.                  your board (and the attendent data files: SUBS.DAT,
  32.                  NNALL.NET, N*.NET, NN*.NET, etc).
  33. MINDISK        Modification to minimize WWIV disk I/O on WWIV, versions 4.20
  34.                  and higher.
  35. NEWFL          NewFile. Allows you to make specific files on your BBS *always*
  36.                  show up as new (the latest version of PKZIP would be a good
  37.                  example).
  38. NOISE          Allows you to add interesting local noises in the code to
  39.                  inform you when a caller performs a specific actions (we have
  40.                  a newuser noise and a xfer access noise, for example).
  41. OMRCASE        Add a main menu selection for running an offline mail reader
  42.                  for WWIV.
  43. PKSCN          PackScan, a WWIVNet NETWORK2 preprocessor. Tells you what
  44.                  was in each network packet that you receive on your
  45.                  board. Fast, colorful, and informative. Supports WWIVLink
  46.                  as well. Now supports networked files, file requests,
  47.                  and file lists.
  48. REMAVAL        Allows a remote sysop the same auto-validation functionality
  49.                  of the local Alt-F-keys when in uedit. Extremely useful for
  50.                  remote validating sysops and cosysops.
  51. RR             Russian Roulette chain for WWIV. This one actually hangs up
  52.                  the phone properly when someone loses and works with all
  53.                  modems, including high-speed modems.
  54. SSM            Editor for the WWIV SMW.DAT file (which stores the little
  55.                  short messages people receive when someone reads their
  56.                  mail). Allows you to readdress the messages, purge them,
  57.                  or enter new ones. Has a "fix" ability for cleaning out
  58.                  corrupt short messages.
  59. TAM            Transfer Area Manager. Allows uncommenting, virus-scanning,
  60.                  and much, much more. Attractive windowed interface. Easy
  61.                  to use.
  62. TOPPER         WWIV 4.22 or greater "top ten users" utility/chain. Generates
  63.                  colorized list of the top ten users in several categories
  64.                  (posts, emails, downloads, etc).
  65. UEDIT          Editor for the WWIV USER.LST file. Has a great number of
  66.                  capabilities, including swapping user accounts, global
  67.                  color redefinition, versatile search functions, and editing
  68.                  of nearly all the fields in the userrec structure, as well
  69.                  as support for FROM and 64 message bases. Small registration
  70.                  fee. Now supports mouse and EGA/VGA video modes.
  71. VAULT          Time Vault. Allows users to "bank" their time, for later
  72.                  withdrawal (for downloading large files for instance).
  73. XMSEMS         Modification to allow WWIV to use extended or expanded memory
  74.                  for overlay loading. Nice for reducing BBS.EXE memory
  75.                  requirements. Savings of about 45k or so are normal.
  76. ZLOG           External ZLOG viewer. Can replace the internal code or
  77.                  supplement it.

  81. All of these files are available here at The Fellowship, WWIVnet @3456, at
  82. 314-644-5777. We are 2400 now but expect to be v.32/v.32bis-compatible in
  83. the very near future.

  85. To the above listed names will be the addition of a version number. So, on
  86. our board if you wish to download, for instance, the latest version of
  87. UEDIT, simply do a "S"earch for UEDIT*.* and you will be shown the location
  88. of the latest version. Use the "S"earch similarly for the other programs
  89. to locate what you need.

  91. None of these programs may be modified but may be freely distributed if
  92. they are left unmodified. All executables are PKLite'd except those that
  93. have overlays that interfere.
