Forrest Gump
_____________
This movie shows you the life & times of Forrest Gump. (Tom Hanks)
He leads a tremendous life and touches many people. Gump meets up with a
girl named Jenny when he is young. No one else wants to sit next to him on
the bus, because he is partially crippled and slightly mentally retarded.
His friendship with Jenny helps him through the troubles of life. He also
helps her as she is sexually abused. She tells him when boys are throwing
rocks at him to just "run." That basically helps him to suceed in life.
For that reason he is able to be a star running back, and accomplish a lot
in Vietnam. I will let you see his other accomplishments for yourself.
Gump is close friends with Jenny (I forgot her real name) for all of his
life, off and on. He stays close with his mother (Sally Field) who puts
uses similes to explain the trials and tribulations of life to him. He
becomes close with his Lieutenant (Gary Sinise), and makes friend with
a young retarded black man named Bubba in 'Nam. The acting is superb. The
whole movie carries a metaphor throughout. It is also both ironic &
entertaining. The actress who played his life long friend Jenny is brilliant.
Sally Field is perfect for the role of "mama." She is warm and loving the
whole movie. Gary Sinise is moving and powerful, as a Lieutenant in Vietnam.
Although, this movie was farfetched there never was a dull moment. It is
hilarious, touching, and fascinating all at the same time. The screenplay
is wonderful. This a most see movie, and so far the best I have seen this
summer. Hanks should get another Oscar nomination for best actor, but this
movie came out to early in the year for him to get the recognition he
deserves. Gary Sinise should get an best supporting actor nomination for his
role of Lt. Dan Taylor.
