  61.                                       HOW TO HOST A SUB
  62.  
  63. >How to determine the sub-type for a new sub:
  64.  
  65. (1) Subtypes are derived from your base node number (last 4 digits).
  66.     For example:  I am node @13900, so my sub-types would be:
  67.         3900, 13900, 23900, 33900, 43900, 53900, 63900
  68.         A3900, B3900, C3900, D3900, E3900, etc.
  69. (2) Subtypes can not be larger than 65535 (network limitation).
  70. (3) Subtypes should only be varied from (1) above only if the following apply:
  71.     (a) You are taking over an existing sub from the old host
  72.     (b) You *need* to host more than 6/7 subs
  73.         (Please avoid duplication.  Hosting the most subs is *NOT* an
  74.         acceptable reason!)
  75.     (c) The sub-type is relevant to the topic
  76.         (ie. 911 for an emergency-type sub)
  77.     (d) Your appropriate subtypes are already taken by another host, such as
  78.         in the case of old subs that have been passed along or area-code
  79.         splits.
  80. (4) Please make sure (by scanning the SUBS.LST) that the subtype is not already
  81.     in use.  If so, please choose another sub-type!  Only one sub may use a
  82.     subtype.
  83. (5) Duplicate subtypes (one numeric, one alpha) are NOT allowed.  Pick one or
  84.     the other -- NOT both.
  85. (6) Alpha subtypes (subs by name) must be tasteful.  Subs list keeper reserves
  86.     the right to NOT include alpha subtypes that may be objectionable.

  88. >To ADD a sub, please send the following information:

  90. (1) Which section to add the sub to (include the SUBS.x file name)
  91. (2) A line showing how you'd like the listing to read:

  99. The ! denotes that the sub is WWIVSERVable.
  100. The R denotes that the sub is NET29+ REQable.
  101. The T denotes that the sub host does not allow tag lines.
  102. The A denotes that the sub host allows ANSI posts.

  104. I recommend that EVERYONE upgrade to NET33+!

  106. >To CHANGE a sub, please send the following information:
  107.  
  108. (1) The existing line from SUBS.LST
  109. (2) A SHORT description of what needs to be changed, and why.

  112. >To REMOVE a sub, please send the following information:

  114. (1) The existing line from SUBS.LST
  115. (2) When you would like the sub deleted

  121. (1) ANSI and/or WWIVcolor in your message, other than taglines.  The message
  122.     is extracted to a text file for processing.  WWIVcolor makes it difficult
  123.     to read, and ANSI makes it impossible to read.
  124. (2) Information on subs listed correctly where nothing has changed.
  125. (3) Questions concerning if another system has left the network or if a
  126.     particular sub-board is still active.  AC/ZC's are the people that might
  127.     have the answer or try calling the board direct.
  128. (4) Requests for another copy of the SUBS.LST files.  I send them out every
  129.     month or so.  If you can't wait, call a support board & download them.
  130.  
  131. Also, when sending in updates:
  132.  
  133. -DO NOT SEND- huge descriptions, 55 chars name & description TOTAL!
  134.  
  135. Your efforts in REDUCING the lines I have to wade through make my job -MUCH-
  136. EASIER and enable me to put out updates FASTER and with more ACCURACY.

  138.                          *** AUTOMATED SUB HOSTING ***
  139.      Please check all subs to make sure they have a category in //BOARDEDIT
  140.  
  141. A CATEG.NET file was been sent out along with the last mail_to_all_sysops. If
  142.     you're using WWIV v4.22 and net32 (or later), you can now select a category
  143.     for your sub to be listed under, in the SUBS.LST file. To pick a category,
  144.     do the following:
  145.  
  146. 1) Go into //BOARDEDIT, 
  147.  
  148. 2) For each sub you host (on WWIVNet), select option J (Net info)
  149.  
  150. 3) M)odify the line for the sub you host, and re-enter the information. 
  151.  
  152. 4) When you get to the "Allow auto sub info?" question, select Y)es. You will 
  153.    be presented with the list of categories. Select the correct category (or
  154.    the closest to it). The next SUBS.LST update will then list your sub in the
  155.    correct category.  MAKE SURE YOU USE THE **CORRECT** CATEGORY.
  156.  
  157. Finally, if you're short on memory for DSZ or HSLINK, you'll have about 90k 
  158. more free to run those using net33.
