from these listings, please make the appropriate change in your software
with //BOARDEDIT, and the change should be reflected after the next ping.
1It takes about 2300 days for a ping to be completed, so please be patient.

Should your system wish a subboard added, altered, or deleted from this list,
please contact 1@13900. Your update will be reflected as soon as

HOW TO HOST A SUB
>How to determine the sub-type for a new sub:
(1) Subtypes are generally derived from your base node number (last 4 digits).
For example: I am node @13900, so my sub-types would be:
3900, 13900, 23900, 33900, 43900, 53900, 63900
A3900, B3900, C3900, D3900, E3900, etc.
(1a)Subtypes can also be alphabetic or alphanumeric, consisting of any
combination of letters and numbers up to seven digits long.
(a) NOTE THAT VULGAR AND/OR PROFANE SUBTYPES ARE NOT ALLOWED,
and will be deleted from the listing!
(2) Subtypes can not be larger than 65535 (network limitation).
(3) Subtypes should only be varied from (1) above only if the following apply:
(a) You are taking over an existing sub from the old host
(b) You *need* to host more than 6/7 subs
(Please avoid duplication. Hosting the most subs is *NOT* an
acceptable reason!)
(c) The sub-type is relevant to the topic
(ie. 911 for an emergency-type sub)
(d) Your appropriate subtypes are already taken by another host, such as
in the case of old subs that have been passed along or area-code
splits.
(4) Please make sure (by scanning the SUBS.LST) that the subtype is not already
in use. If so, please choose another sub-type! Only one sub may use a
subtype.
(5) Duplicate subtypes (one numeric, one alpha) are NOT allowed. Pick one or
the other -- NOT both.
(6) Alpha subtypes (subs by name) must be tasteful. Subs list keeper reserves
the right to NOT include alpha subtypes that may be objectionable.
>To ADD a sub, please send the following information:
(1) Which section to add the sub to (include the SUBS.x file name)
(2) A line showing how you'd like the listing to read:
type host !RTA Title (total 55 characters >OR LESS<)
Example:
OF INTEREST TO SYSOPS (SUBS.6)
2900 13900 RTA WWIVLink Subboard Yellow Pages
The R denotes that the sub is NET29+ REQable.
The T denotes that the sub host does not allow tag lines.
The A denotes that the sub host allows ANSI posts.
I recommend that EVERYONE upgrade to NET35+!
>To CHANGE a sub, please send the following information:
(1) The existing line from SUBS.LST
(2) A SHORT description of what needs to be changed, and why.
** NO COLORS **
>To REMOVE a sub, please send the following information:
(1) The existing line from SUBS.LST
(2) When you would like the sub deleted
>>THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE, AND WILL CAUSE YOUR UPDATE TO BE DISCARDED!
--- --------- --- --- ----------- --- ---- ----- ---- ------ -- -- ----------
(1) ANSI and/or WWIVcolor in your message, other than taglines. The message
is extracted to a text file for processing. WWIVcolor makes it difficult
to read, and ANSI makes it impossible to read.
(2) Information on subs listed correctly where nothing has changed.
(3) Questions concerning if another system has left the network or if a
particular sub-board is still active. AC/ZC's are the people that might
have the answer or try calling the board direct.
(4) Requests for another copy of the SUBS.LST files. I send them out every
month or so. If you can't wait, call a support board & download them.
Also, when sending in updates:
-DO NOT SEND- huge descriptions, 55 chars name & description TOTAL!
Your efforts in REDUCING the lines I have to wade through make my job -MUCH-
EASIER and enable me to put out updates FASTER and with more ACCURACY.
*** AUTOMATED SUB HOSTING ***
Please check all subs to make sure they have a category in //BOARDEDIT
A CATEG.NET file was been sent out along with the last mail_to_all_sysops. If
you're using WWIV v4.22 and net32 (or later), you can now select a category
for your sub to be listed under, in the SUBS.LST file. To pick a category,
do the following:
1) Go into //BOARDEDIT,
2) For each sub you host (on WWIVNet), select option J (Net info)
3) M)odify the line for the sub you host, and re-enter the information.
4) When you get to the "Allow auto sub info?" question, select Y)es. You will
be presented with the list of categories. Select the correct category (or
the closest to it). The next SUBS.LST update will then list your sub in the
correct category. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE **CORRECT** CATEGORY.
Finally, if you're short on memory for DSZ or HSLINK, you'll have about 90k
more free to run those using net35.
