Authors Read Me!!!
------------------
First, we would like to thank all the Public Domain, Freeware, and
Shareware authors that have supported the Atari TOS computers over the
years. One of the best features of the Atari line has always been the
quality of the independent authors, and based on the offerings of late,
this is one tradition that is still going strong! Thanks!
With the growing popularity of CD-ROMs on the Atari marketplace, the cost
of obtaining your software has never been less! With over 1,600 programs
on this one ($39 US) disk, the user pays less than 3 cents per program!!!
With such a low distribution cost, more people than ever before will have
access to your software. To ShareWare authors, this means more potential
customers.
Program Missing?
----------------
Due to the wealth of software available, it was impossible to put
everything on the first disc. If you have software that was not included
on Volume 1, please send it to us. We will make sure that it gets on
included on a future volume!
Author List
-----------
We are in the process of compiling a list of authors, their products, and
current mailing address. It is our hope that by maintaining a list of
current addresses, it will make it easier for people to get in touch with
you. It should also help to ease the minds of potential donors, knowing
that they have your current address, and that you are still supporting
your product.
ISO 9660 Standard
-----------------
Thanks to the ISO 9660 CD-ROM standard, Atari users can access CD-ROM
discs from other platforms with ease. This makes a wealth of information
available to Atari users without needing Atari specific discs. For this
reason the ISO 9660 standard is wonderful. It does, however, impose some
restrictions on file names. If you want your programs to be able to run
from CD, keep these restrictions in mind:
Only upper case characters A-Z, 0-9 and the _ (underscore) are
allowed in folder and file names.
Folders are not allowed to have extensions. So you are limited
to eight character folder names.
CDs are limited to eight directory levels, you should try to
use no more than five to provide for orginizational directorys.
