  10. SUBJECT: MGT - Solution or Problem?
  11.      The following is a checklsst for volunteers and their
  12. managers.
  13. A.  BEING A PART OF THE PROBLEM:
  14.      1.  Fails to contact the office.
  15.      2.  Makes unnecessary and superfluous transmission in the
  16. belief that if the air isn't being used, why not use it?
  17.      3.  Being verbose, wordy, long winded, or redundant.
  18.      4.  Person is enrolled in multiple organizations and responds
  19. to the one of his or her choice of the moment.
  20.      5.  Person accepts responsibilities but fails to deliver.
  21.      6.  Finds excuses not to attend training meetings.
  22. B.  BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION:
  23.      1.  During a known emergency, volunteer staff people call in
  24. to advise of their availability status.  They do not wait to be
  25. called.
  26.      2.  Remain off the air unless transmission is essential to
  27. the mission.  Remains monitoring.
  28.      3.  Keeps all tactical and internal communications concise,
  29. simple, and relevant.
  30.      4.  If on a RACES staff, responds to mobilization callout
  31. when requested.
  32.      5.  Accepts responsibilities and meets expectations.
  33.      6.  Attends training and other necessary meetings.

  39. Is your RACES Plan current?   The Santa Luisa County or city model
  40. RACES plan is the format for jurisdictions using Amateur Radio
  41. operators in California.    OES agencies needing a copy should contact
  42. their nearest State OES Region office.   Jurisdictions requesting FEMA
  43. matching funds must (a) have a current RACES Plan approved by State
  44. OES and (b) in the approved model plan format.
