- This extremely short hack does two things: (1) It automatically clicks retry
- on all system requesters that pop up in the Workbench window. This is not as
- unsafe as it sounds -- most of the important requesters will just pop up again
- if you click retry. So if you notice a requester that is unusually
- persistent, you can usually override the Killer by clicking Cancel.
- But the really annoying requesters just go away if you click Retry.
- (2) It looks for fake Workbench screens (screens that have the WBENCHSCREEN
- flag set but are not really Workbench) and changes the flag to CUSTOMSCREEN.
- This was written in response to an annoying feature in UEdit 2.5d that sets
- the WBENCHSCREEN flag on the UEdit screen. This caused some strange effects
- with the Left Amiga-N and M keys.
-
- Why, you ask, did I bother to write this, let alone upload it? I'm glad you
- asked. There is a problem with my hard disk interface, or the drive itself,
- or the motherboard, that causes "Read/write error" requesters to pop up
- occasionally. If you click "Retry" on them, however, they just go away, and
- everything proceeds normally. Even if you click "Cancel," everything just
- continues normally. I checked the hard disk with a Defect search and found
- nothing. I did a low-level format when the hard drive was warm, but nothing
- changed. The problem can get extremely annoying at times -- I've had as many
- as 700 errors on the drive in one session. Any ideas?
