  3.         8SVX-IFF Instrument Samples from the `Dealer Demo' Discs

  6. Once, in the Golden Dawn of the Amiga [that'd be late 1985 for you
  7. young 'uns...] Commodore distributed a demo to dealers that showed
  8. off the machine's capabilities; it included an `Instrument' that
  9. used the computer keyboard as `piano' keys, and came with a fair set
  10. of sampled voices.

  12. These samples were in their own idiosyncratic format, but about a
  13. year later Bobby Deen wrote a conversion program (available for example
  14. on aminet) that turned them into 8SVX files.  However, the original
  15. samples may now be a bit hard to come by, so this is a collection of
  16. the 8SVX versions, plus a few converted from a later disc issued
  17. by FAUG.  To the best of my knowledge they are all public domain.
  18. I put it together for my own use with the MusicWeb [mus/midi/MusicWeb.lha]
  19. but they should work with any program that will read 8SVX instruments.

  21. All the files are five-octave, most -- except percussion -- have
  22. repeat segments.  All the musical instruments play in the correct key.
  23. (If you consider the Claves "musical", however, they don't seem to be
  24. right...)
