ARCHIVIST V2.10
This doc file is just to clarify the error messages, and to clean up a
few loose odds and sods. So here we go:
Errors:
The numbers are there for my use. Below is a guide to the
numbers and their meaning.
Error No:
00 This error means that there has been a general
failure of Archivist. This shouldn`t happen.
At least, not often.
01, 03 File does not exist. The file that you have
06, 07 selected for this operation does not exist in
09 this directory or on this disk. You must choose
0C-11 another file, disk or directory.
13-1A
1C.
02, 04 Record does not exist. The record in the file
08, 0A that you have chosen does not exist in the same
12, directory as the rest of the records. Archivist
1F-2A usually skips missing records.
05 Unavailable directory. This means that
Archivist cannot find the directory that you
want. You`ll have to rechoose the directory.
1D File already exists. This is where there is
already a file with the name that you have
chosen for your new file that you are about to
create. Just type a different name in.
1E Music track unavailable. Just select a
different one to the one that you selected
before.
Now just a few bits:
There may be another version of Archivist floating around that does
not have my name on it. This is due to me not being the security
conscious person that I usually am, and someone getting into my disk
boxes and nicking the disks. If you have, or know someone who has, a
copy of this version, then please mail it to me.
System setup:
The version of Archivist that is on this disk is set up to
automatically configure for a 2 color, non-interlaced NTSC screen.
This can be changed by the OPTION file in then ARCHIVIST_SYSTEM
directory on the disk. Just use the CHANGE RECORD command to alter the
setup to your own requirements, but remember the following points:
ALWAYS use CAPITAL LETTERS - i.e. PAL or NTSC (not pal/Pal/PAl/.. etc)
Put the correct commands in the right records - don`t put screen
resolution in place of number of colors and vice versa.
Leave some of them alone - the one that says "AUTOEXEC.AMOS"
"NON"
and "OFF"
These refer to commands that have been removed or not implemented yet,
just leave them alone.
Bugs:
Ah yes, this is the bit that I hate. There will be bugs and the Amiga
will crash occasionally. In particular, the SORT command and the
SEARCH AND PRINT commands are being silly and saying that I have
dimensioned an array twice (Complete lies though!). Also this program
has not been tested on:
A500+
A600 (you know the new one with the ROM card socket instead of the
ZORRO socket on the side of A500`s)
A1000
A1500
A2000
A2500
A3000
A3500 Tower system
So it may not work with Kickstart V2.04 (or V2.05 in A600`s)
If you do find any bugs (because this version hasn`t been 100% tested,
then please tell me. If you do wnat to load Archivist into your copy
of AMOS, then set your buffer (SEARCH menu) to a MINIMUM of 54616
bytes (that`s about 53.335kB). Be prepared to edit 1500+ lines!!
If you do manage to remove the bugs, then can you please mail the
finished version to me so I can check it over - thanks.
Date and time.
There is a new information line beneath the list of commands on the
main menu. There is the amount of fast and chip memory available, and
the date and time. The time may well be inaccurate (it is on mine),
because it shows you the time when the SETCLOCK command was called in
the startup-sequence. The date will be correct. Also try running trhe
program on the following dates:
January 20th
February 12th
March 17th
April 23rd
May 25th
July 4th
September 7th
October 12th
November 11th
December 31st
For my next trick, Archivist shall have:
LINKed files
View filters
Speech
Serial transmit/recieve data.
Bugs in this version fixed!!
Changing screen sizes in the program
INTERLACED screens
Also how about a wordprocessor? Any ideas, comments, suggestions then
mail them to me at:
