SYSTEM MENU HELP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Field Names - Use this option to edit the fields of the current database.
For each field you can enter a field name upto 20 chrs.
Choose a field type:-
1) Text - Allows text,numbers and special characters.
2) Numeric - Allows numbers and special characters.
3) Date - A date in the format dd-mm-yyyy (20-08-1992)
4) Time - A time in 24hr format HH:MM (23:30)
5) Logical - (Y)es/(N)o or (T)rue/(F)alse.
6) External - Allows an IFF picture or ASCII text file
to be loaded into a record.
7) Percentage - Range from 0 to 100%
For each field you also enter the maximum width of an
entry in that field. i.e 5 if your longest entry is
"STEVE".
Some field types have a fixed width that you cannot
alter.
Text - Any length
Numeric - Any length
Date - 10 chrs. dd-mm-yyyy
Time - 5 chrs. hh:mm
Logical - 1 chr. Y/N or T/F
External - 40 chr. (An IFF picture or ASCII text file)
Percentage - 3 chr. (0 - 100%)
File Heading - Allows you to alter the title of the database you are
editing.
Alter filenote - Allows you to alter the comment that describes the file
you are editing. e.g. This is a database of my computer
disk collection.
Design new form - Allows you to reposition the fields to a more
suitable layout. Click on the field you wish to
move and drag it about to the position you require
and then let go of the left mouse button.
Click right mouse button to return to the main
screen.
Reset form postions - Resets the positions of your fields as changed
with the design form layout option back to the
default layout.
Load form - Allows you to load just the form positions from the disk.
Save form - Allow you to save just the current form positions to disk.
Set password protection - This option allows you to set up three levels
of password protection for your database.
The three levels are:-
3) Read only protection. Allows you to merely view records.
No editing or deleting etc.
2) Read and edit protection. Allows to view , filter , save
and insert further records. No deleting.
1) No protection. Allows all functions to be used and
passwords can be changed.
The passwords can only be changed when you have full no
protection entry to the database.
If a database is password protected then you will be
required to enter a password upon loading.
