This is a DEMO VERSION of Remote Control: ESQ. The following features have
been omitted that are available in the full product:
- Bank save - Bank transmit
- Sequence transmit - Patch audition
- Patch print - Complete manual
To configure RCDEMO for use with your computer and MIDI setup, run
RCCONFIG. The configuration is saved as RCESQ.CNF. To start RCDEMO, just
type in RCDEMO at your DOS prompt. The program will first start by
displaying an advertisment, waiting 10 seconds, then starting the program.
After the advertisement, you are in the main program. From the main
program you can bring up the menu by hitting [ENTER] or hit [H] to bring up
the on-line help menu.
To make the program easier to use, the function keys have been programmed
with the following functions:
[F1] Create a new bank [F6] Receive bank
[F2] Kill bank [F7] Edit patch
[F3] Load bank [F8] Graphically edit patch
[F4] Save bank [F9] Audition patch
[F5] Transmit bank [F10] Edit name of patch
In a menu:
[ESC] Moves back ONE menu level
[CTRL-ESC] Return to main program from ANY menu
[ARROW KEYS] Use to choose menu option
[ENTER] Select menu option
To quickly choose any menu option, press the capitalized
letter in that option.
Only from main program:
[TAB],
[SHIFT-TAB] Change active (highlighted) bank
[ARROW KEYS] Change current (highlighted) patch
[CTRL-E] Select macro to execute
Since Remote Control: ESQ allows 26 banks in memory at once, a bank is
chosen to be the ACTIVE bank. Usually, the active bank is the last one
created. The active bank is denoted by a highlighted, double line border.
To change the active bank, press [TAB] or [SHIFT-TAB]. Also, a patch in
that bank is the CURRENT patch. To change the current patch, use the
[ARROW KEYS]. The current patch is highlighted patch in the active bank.
You can only change the active bank and current patch from the main
program. To return to the main program from any menu, press [CTRL-ESC].
To get started, load up RCDEMO and do the following:
1. Hit [F1] to create a bank.
2. Hit [F3] to load a bank off the disk.
3. Use the [ARROW KEYS] to choose a bank and hit [ENTER] to load
it into the active bank.
4. Hit [CTRL-ESC] to return to the main program.
5. Use the [ARROW KEYS] to select a patch.
6. Hit [F7] to edit that patch. After you are done editing the
patch, press [Q] to return to RC.
7. Hit [F8] to graphically edit that patch. After you are done
editing the patch, press [Q] to return to RC.
8. Hit [F1] to create a bank (this will create another bank).
9. Hit [F3] to load a bank into the newly created bank.
10. Repeat steps 4 through 7.
11. Use the [TAB] and [SHIFT-TAB] keys to change the active bank.
12. To quit RC, press [CTRL-ESC] and then [Q].
To receive a bank or sequence from the synthesizer, do the following:
1. Set your synthesizer's base channel to 1 (can be changed with
RCCONFIG.EXE). Refer to page 21 in your ESQ-1 manual, page 36
in your ESQ-M manual, or page 22 in your SQ-80 manual.
2. Enable SysEx messages on the synthesizer. Refer to page 24 in
your ESQ-1 manual, page 35-36 in your ESQ-M manual, or page 26
in your SQ-80 manual.
3. Properly connect the MIDI IN and OUT of the computer to the
synthesizer's MIDI ports.
