  1.            GETTING STARTED WITH VBLASTER V1.1

  4. ■ Introduction
  5.  
  6. Thank you for acquiring this product.  VBLASTER.EXE is a quality
  7. program that provides an easy to use 'Windows' like operator interface.
  8. Being nearly CUA (Common User Access) compliant, this program was
  9. intended to provide you with the capabilities to create SoundBlaster
  10. voice files, and to Play both SoundBlaster voice and CMF music files.
  11. With List boxes, radio buttons, and scroll bars, even the novice with
  12. no knowledge of DOS can run this program.
  13.  
  14. Voice Blaster will record RAW Voice files, but can play both RAW and
  15. Creative Labs Compressed Voice files.  If you register for this 
  16. product, you will receive notices of updates and enhancements of
  17. Voice Blaster which will include file compression, more voice file
  18. editting capabilities, and a 'WINDOWS 3.0' application version!
  19. To find out how to register after running this program, simply select
  20. the 'HELP' pull down menu and choose 'REGISTER'!

  22. On-line help is provided to accelerate learning the various menues and
  23. dialog boxes.  Press F1 anytime to receive help.

  25. NOTE: VOICE BLASTER V1.1

  27. This version has been released to fix some minor bugs in the program.
  28. Here is a summary:
  29.  
  30.     1) Files in the root directory can now be selected to Play
  31.  
  32.     2) Program checks for proper file name when entering filename
  33.        to record. 
  34.  
  35.     3) When card status is selected, the Creative Labs Voice 
  36.        driver version is also displayed

  39. ■ Installation
  40.  
  41. Simply copy the following files into the same directory:
  42.  
  43.     VBLASTER.EXE     The main program
  44.     BLASTM.HLP      Help file for the main program functions
  45.     BLASTR.HLP      Help file for the Record dialog box
  46.     BLASTP.HLP      Help file for the Play dialog box
  47.     REGISTER.TXT    Text file describing how to register this product

  49. The directory you chose can be any directory.  If you chose a current
  50. directory that is on the DOS path, then you can then run VBLASTER from
  51. any directory without having to type the full path name.
  52.  
  53. You can also create a new directory for the new files and launch this
  54. program from other applications such as Pctools or Windows.
  55.  
  56. For those of you not familiar with DOS, here is an example for setting
  57. up VBLASTER.EXE to run after downloading this program into the
  58. directory c:\pcplus\dwn
  59.  
  60.     c:
  61.     md c:\blast
  62.     cd \blast
  63.     copy c:\pcplus\dwn\vblaster.exe
  64.     copy c:\pcplus\dwn\*.hlp
  65.     copy c:\pcplus\dwn register.txt

  67. ■ Running
  68.  
  69. To run this program, simply type VBLASTER anytime at the DOS prompt if
  70. the files were copied into a directory which was on the path.  
  71. Otherwise, type the full path name such as \blast\VBLASTER to run.

  73. You can also create a batch file which would call this program with the
  74. path if the directory used is not on the DOS path.

  76. ■ Registering
  77.  
  78. Please send in your registration if you decide you like VBLASTER.  It
  79. will enable me to continue to upgrade and enhance the program with new
  80. functions and to support bug fixes.  Also, you will receive notices of
  81. new program releases I am currently working on that use the 
  82. SoundBlaster card.
