  3. Many new features have been added since 1.2 including support for Oxyron's 
  4. "OpenOxypport", the latest input.device and the patched ram-handler from 
  5. Aminet. There is now one version of the firmware which should work on all 
  6. systems. 
  7.  
  8. To install the firmware, use at least CoyoteFlash 1.4 to add the file to 
  9. the firmware slot of the KickFlash OS4 card. You can now add 512 KB 
  10. Kickstart ROM's to use with Cyberstorm MK1/2/3/PPC, A3640 and BlizzardPPC 
  11. boards.

  13. Additionally you can add a 256 KB 34.005 Kickstart to enable Retro
  14. Kickstart remapping. This feature allows you to start as a Kickstart 1.3
  15. machine when holding the joystick button during reset. During the Kickstart
  16. 1.3 floppy screen, you can press the left mouse button to disable the CPU
  17. caches. To use the retro mapping in combination with the 512 KB Kickstart
  18. remapping, join the two files by entering the CLI and type for example:

  20. join devs:rom34.005 devs:rom3.1 TO newrom
  21.  
  22. The order of the two rom files is not important. The firmware will now use 
  23. the rom3.1 file if the Kickstart was not remapped and use the rom34.005 
  24. file if the joystick button is pressed during the reset.

  29. Short instructions about the floppy save routines:
  30.  
  31. Just insert a write-enabled disk into DF0: and enable the write protection
  32. of the Kickflash OS4 card. This will save the CoyoteFlash archive
  33. to disk. The archive is packed using LHA and contains the documentation
  34. and necessary files. 
  35.  
  36. IMPORTANT: Make sure the disk is formatted with the Fast File System 
  37.            before using it!
  38.  
  39. If the writing to disk succeeds, the screen will turn green. If the screen 
  40. turns red, something went wrong during the write process. If the machine
  41. boots, it means there is an allocation problem. Please let us know and 
  42. fetch the latest file from www.coyoteflux.nl (at the FlashTools part of 
  43. the website). Disable the write protection and reboot to install the 
  44. firmware 1.6 from the floppy disk.

  46. Currently the following features are supported:
  47.  
  48. * Kickstart remapping for Cyberstorm MK1, MK2, MK3, PPC, Commodore A3640
  49.   and BlizzardPPC boards.
  50.   
  51. * Retro Kickstart remapping for any CPU card. This feature uses Relokick's
  52.   internal relocation table to kick back to a 34.005 Kickstart 1.3 system.
  53.   It requires the Kickstart 34.005 ROM as found in older A500s and supports
  54.   disabling the caches by pressing the left mousebutton during the KS 1.3 
  55.   floppy boot screen.
  56.  
  57. * Installation of AmigaOS 3.5/3.9 ROM Updates. It has been tested with
  58.   several beta's as well and all of them work so far.
  59.  
  60. * Nearly any kind of resident module. Some PrepareEmul-like programs have 
  61.   been reported to work and additionally OpenOXYPPort (from OxyPatcher) can 
  62.   be added to be executed from Flash.
  63.   
  64. * Up to 29 external resident modules (excluding AmigaOS ROM Updates)
  65.  
  66. The KickFlashSaveFirmware is the file originally supplied with the Flash
  67. card. This firmware can only save away the CoyoteDiskBlock file (when
  68. available in the first slot) and contains nothing else in the firmware. 
  69. So make sure to replace your firmware with version 1.6 the first time 
  70. you install the modules!
