  11.   DOP is an invaluable aid for most
  12.  
  13. common disk commands.
  14.  
  15.   All options are accessed by pressing
  16.  
  17. a function key (f1-f8).  A brief
  18.  
  19. explanation of all options follows:
  20.  
  21.  
  22. F1 -- PURGE/DELETE  a disk directory
  23.       item or a program
  24.  
  25. F2 -- COPY a program or file
  26.  
  27. F3 -- RENAME a disk
  28.  
  29. F4 -- DIRECTORY for the disk
  30.       currently in the drive
  31.  
  32. F5 -- CHANGE the name of a program
  33.  
  34. F6 -- INITIALIZE/FORMAT a disk
  35.       (This will ERASE EVERYTHING!!!)
  36.  
  37. F7 -- PRINT directory
  38.  
  39. F8 -- LOAD/RUN a program
  40.  
  41.  Q -- QUIT
  42.

  44.  After choosing any option, you will
  45.  
  46. be given the choice of going back to
  47.  
  48. the main menu; therefore, there is no
  49.  
  50. need to worry about being committed to
  51.  
  52. wrong selection.
  53.  
  54.  
  55. F1 - PURGE/DELETE DISK/PROGRAM
  56. ==============================
  57.  
  58.   Insert the disk that contains the
  59.  
  60. file that you wish to delete, then
  61.  
  62. press [F1].
  63.  
  64.   After you have answered the
  65.  
  66. continuation prompt, a two-item menu
  67.  
  68. will be displayed. Press [F1] if you
  69.  
  70. desire to delete from a directory
  71.  
  72. list or press [F3] if you wish to
  73.  
  74. enter the file name.
  75.  
  76.   When you pick to delete from the
  77.  
  78. directory, the directory list will be
  79.  
  80. displayed on the screen, along with
  81.  
  82. the legend: '[P]urge [U]p [D]own
  83.  
  84. [Q]uit'. Use the 'U' and 'D' keys to
  85.  
  86. move this legend adjacent to the name
  87.  
  88. of the file that you wish to delete.
  89.  
  90. Once it's next to the filename, press
  91.  
  92. 'P' to purge (delete) the file.  If
  93.  
  94. you press 'P' on the wrong line,
  95.  
  96. don't worry because you will be
  97.  
  98. allowed to go back.  When you have
  99.  
  100. chosen your desired file, press 'Q'
  101.  
  102. to quit.
  103.  
  104.   If you select [F3] to delete a
  105.  
  106. program, you will be asked whether
  107.  
  108. you want a directory list or not.
  109.  
  110. Answer the question appropriately.
  111.  
  112. Next, you will be asked for the name
  113.  
  114. of the file that you wish to delete.
  115.  
  116. Enter the name and press [RETURN].
  117.  
  118.   From either method, you will then
  119.  
  120. be given the choice of returning to
  121.  
  122. the main menu or validating the disk.
  123.  
  124.  
  125. F2 - COPY A PROGRAM/FILE
  126. ========================
  127.  
  128. 1) First, 'INSERT SOURCE DISK
  129.  
  130. [RETURN]' will be displayed. Your
  131.  
  132. source is the disk containing the
  133.  
  134. file that you wish to copy.  Insert
  135.  
  136. this disk into your drive and press
  137.  
  138. [RETURN].
  139.  
  140.  
  141. 2) You will be asked, "FILE NAME?".
  142.  
  143. Enter the name of the file that you
  144.  
  145. wish to copy then press [RETURN].
  146.  
  147.  
  148. 3) Next, you will be asked, 'FILE
  149.  
  150. TYPE (S,P,U)?'.  The 'S' is for
  151.  
  152. sequential; the 'P' is for program;
  153.  
  154. and the 'U' is for user.  Enter the
  155.  
  156. appropriate letter then press
  157.  
  158. [RETURN]. To let you know that the
  159.  
  160. program is still working, the program
  161.  
  162. displays consecutive numbers between
  163.  
  164. each pause.
  165.  
  166.  
  167. 4) Next, 'INSERT DESTINATION DISK
  168.  
  169. [RETURN]' will be displayed.  Your
  170.  
  171. destination is the disk that you wish
  172.  
  173. to copy onto.  Insert this disk and
  174.  
  175. press [RETURN].  When finished you
  176.  
  177. will be back in the main menu.
  178.  
  179.  
  180. F3 - RENAME DISK
  181. ================
  182.  
  183.   If you select this option, a menu
  184.  
  185. will be displayed similar to the one
  186.  
  187. below.
  188.  
  189.          F1 - NAME CHANGE
  190.          F7 - MAIN MENU
  191.  
  192.   As indicated, [F7] will return you
  193.  
  194. to the main menu.
  195.  
  196.   If you choose [F1] then the current
  197.  
  198. NAME will be shown.  Next, you will be
  199.  
  200. asked, 'Please type the [16 LETTER]
  201.  
  202. name for the disk?.' Enter the
  203.  
  204. name,then press [RETURN].
  205.  
  206.   When this is done, the new NAME
  207.  
  208. will be shown, and you will have the
  209.  
  210. option to change another disk's name.
  211.  
  212. *** NOTE ***
  213.   LOADSTAR will not work if you rename
  214. the disk!
  215.  
  216.  
  217. F4 - DIRECTORY OF THIS DISK
  218. ========================
  219.  
  220.   Before pressing [F4], place your
  221.  
  222. disk into the drive.
  223.  
  224.   At the end of the directory display,
  225.  
  226. you will be given the option to
  227.  
  228. continue or quit. In this case,
  229.  
  230. continue means return to main menu and
  231.  
  232. quit means exit from DOP.
  233.  
  234.  
  235. F5 - CHANGE THE NAME OF PROGRAM
  236. ===============================
  237.  
  238.   A directory will be listed in the
  239.  
  240. same way as in [F4]-DIRECTORY.  At
  241.  
  242. the end (or if you selected to end
  243.  
  244. the directory display), you will be
  245.  
  246. asked which program. Enter the name
  247.  
  248. of the program and press [RETURN].
  249.  
  250. Next, you will be asked what name to
  251.  
  252. change it to.  Enter the new name and
  253.  
  254. press [RETURN].  If you change your
  255.  
  256. mind, you will have the option to
  257.  
  258. abort the change at a Yes/No prompt.
  259.  
  260.  
  261. F6 - INITIALIZE/FORMAT A DISK
  262. =============================
  263.  
  264.   CAUTION: THIS WILL ERASE
  265.  
  266. EVERYTHING!!!  There are only two
  267.  
  268. prompts that you have to respond to:
  269.  
  270.   'type in a disk name(16 max.)?'
  271.   'type in a 2 character identifier?'
  272.  
  273. Respond to both of these prompts
  274.  
  275. appropriately and say "Good-Bye" to
  276.  
  277. everything on your disk!
  278.  
  279.  
  280. F7 - PRINT DIRECTORY
  281. ====================
  282.  
  283.   This option writes a disk directory
  284.  
  285. via your printer.  The first menu you
  286.  
  287. encounter will give you the option to
  288.  
  289. select a 'regular' or Gemini 10X
  290.  
  291. printer, or return to the main menu.
  292.  
  293. Next you will be given the option to
  294.  
  295. select 2 or 3 columns of print for the
  296.  
  297. regular printer and 2-5 columns for
  298.  
  299. the Gemini printer. Having selected
  300.  
  301. the number of columns, you will be
  302.  
  303. told to press [RETURN] when the disk
  304.  
  305. is ready. Insert your disk then press
  306.  
  307. [RETURN]. The disk's directory will be
  308.  
  309. listed followed by the prompt 'Y/N.'
  310.  
  311. If the directory is the one you want
  312.  
  313. printed, then press 'Y'. If not,
  314.  
  315. insert the correct disk and press
  316.  
  317. [RETURN] when printer is ready. Ready
  318.  
  319. your printer then press [RETURN].

  321.  
  322. F8 - LOAD/RUN A PROGRAM
  323. =======================
  324.  
  325.   You see the following menu:
  326.  
  327.             F1 - INPUT RUN
  328.             F3 - MENU RUN
  329.  
  330.   If you press [F1] then you will be
  331.  
  332. asked to enter the program's name.
  333.  
  334. Enter the name of the program, then
  335.  
  336. press [RETURN]. You will exit DOP and
  337.  
  338. the specified program will be loaded
  339.  
  340. and run. IF you press [RETURN]
  341.  
  342. without entering anything else, you
  343.  
  344. will go to the main menu.
  345.  
  346.   If you select [F3], you will see
  347.  
  348. the legend: "[R]un [U]p [D]own [Q]."
  349.  
  350. The commands function the same as in
  351.  
  352. the F1 option except that the program
  353.  
  354. will be run instead of deleted.
