ABSTRACT FOR THE C-128
by
Jerry A. Sturdivant
COMMODORE MICROCOMPUTERS MAGAZINE
May/June, 1986
p.57
**************************************
NOTE: This program is written for the
Commodore 128. Because of this, you
cannot run it directly from LOADSTAR.
To run the program, simply turn your
128 off, then back on. This should
put you in 128 mode. After this, all
you need to do is type
DLOAD"ABSTRACT.128". When the READY
prompt appears, simply type "RUN" and
press RETURN.
**************************************
Saturday afternoons are the worst.
Especially spring afternoons. On a
sunny day in May or June, even the
most dedicated TV junkie might feel a
little boredom, find a little despair.
In the spring, even the old
standbys sometimes fail. Like
wrestling. All of the good wrestlers
have gone prime time. Even Kamala,
the giant from Uganda, holds press
conferences these days.
What he has to say about Pershing
II missile deployment in Western
Europe makes sense, though.
Yes, Saturday afternoons can be
pretty bleak. But through the
miracles of the Computer Revolution,
there is no reason for you to totter
outside to confront the spring. No
smiling children. No torrid affairs
with tanned young women who want to
cavort with you on the beaches of
Cancun.
Instead, all you have to do is load
ABSTRACT. Then, by choosing LINES,
BOXES, or BOTH from the menu screen,
you will see a series of beautiful
patterns drawn across your monitor.
If you find a certain pattern
fascinating, you can press the SPACE
BAR to freeze the action. Pressing
it again will resume the evolution.
To go back to the menu, press
"R" at any time.
Now, wasn't that easy? Fleeing the
horrors of spring is not as hard as
you thought. And while ABSTRACT may
not be a total cure for the
springtime blues, it should be enough
to get any TV addict to prime time
with minimal interaction with the
outside world.
