" The Church of St Isosceles
The resplendent vestibule is a marvel
of ante-Lutheran extremism. To visit
the north and south confessionals go
north or south. In front of you is an
"altar undergoing re-construction, and
upstairs is the Belfry and the famous
Five Bells of St Dapiacle. A statue
of St Spurious towers over you.
*
The Church plays a large part in the mys-adventure. It amused Calhoon
to have an exploding altar provide the precipitating event. Many
"times when he was an altar boy at 6:30 am mass he hoped for
something...anything...to happen to allay the boredom.
In the north confessional you find a clue if you inspect the breviary
(a small prayerbook) and its ribbon. In the south confessional you
will find a rosary under the kneeler.
"
"The altar holds a clue to the murderer, but only after you have been
to the Library and visited the room that overlooks the Church.
"
Where did Calhoon come up with <St Dapiacle>? In the 50s he was
taught that name as a mnemonic device for remembering the Cabinet
"positions in order of ascendency to the President -- State, Treasury,
"Defense, Attorney General, Post Office, Interior, Agriculture,
"Commerce, Labor and Energy. Maybe you were taught the same thing?
"

"If the footprint reveals a caduceus, then the murderer is the doctor,
"Doctor Dee. If the footprint reveals a crucifix, then Cardinal
Musial is the murderer.
