The well is a masterpiece of pre-
Inquisition architecture. At the top
is carved a Latin inscription. The
water level of the well is about three
meters down. One meter down is the
tunnel leading back to the Stables.

Only Calhoon could envision having the only entrance to an important
"place like the Library located in a well, right above the water supply
"of the Abbey, but it's one of those illogical things you have to
accept if you hope to get through this mys-adventure.

Once you lose the bucket and the rope down the well you can see that
there's something right above the waterline. This turns out to be a
"priest hole leading to the Catacomb of St Faustus. However, the only
way to get to it is to climb down a rope. You can get a rope in the
belfry. Then you have to tie it to the well-beam with the proper type
of knot or it'll slip and fall into the well.
