NoiseMixer for the SoundBlaster Pro (for Windows)
from New Noise
Programmed by Alwin Hoogerdijk
NoiseMixer is a replacement of the SB Pro Mixer Control for Windows, which
is packed with the SB Pro. NoiseMixer has the same functions, but it's
easier to work with and looks better. It has four scrollbars for each mixer
channel, one to set the overall volume, two to set the left and right volumes
and one to control the balance. These four scrollbars are connected, so
moving one scrollbar affects the rest. Try playing with them and see what's
the difference. The All Max and All Off buttons enable you to set all volumes
quickly. To test the input signal NoiseMixer has a scope window, that shows
the wave of the incoming sound. At any time you can save and load all settings
to and from disk.
Please note that this program only works on the SoundBlaster Pro. It is
specifically written to set the volumes and the filter and source settings
of the SB Pro mixer-chip.
How to use NoiseMixer ?
Setting Volumes :
For each mixer channels there are three vertical scrollbars for setting the
left, overall and right volume and one horizontal bar for balance control.
These scrollbars are dependent on each other. For example, clicking on the
balance scrollbar will also move the left and right volume scrollbars.
Just try and play with them to see how it works. To quickly set all volumes
to the maximum or to the minimum, use the All max and All off buttons.
Filter settings :
Click on the radio buttons to select the input filter.
Source selection :
Click on the radio buttons to select the source for recordings. This also
selects which signal is visible in the scope window.
Loading and saving settings :
Pressing the save button saves the current volume, filter and source
setting to disk in the file noisemix.ini. These settings can then be loaded
by pressing the load button. In the Options menu the option "Load settings
at startup" can be checked to make NoiseMixer start up with the saved
settings.
Scope :
The scope checkmark activates and deactivates the scope window. This
scope window shows the incoming signal of the currently selected source.
While the scope is active, you can't play or record samples, because the
scope occupies the sound device.
You can exit NoiseMixer with the Exit button or using the File menu.
See the readme.txt for information about other New Noise products.
Thanks to Hans C. Masing for reporting the bug in the first release.
