  5. As part of Aztech New Media's 7-volume Complete Home Entertainment Shareware 
  6. Series, we believe "Arcade 1" Shareware Games - Volume 1" represents the 
  7. very best VGA/EGA games the shareware market has to offer to date.

  9. It is important to note that the price for this CD-ROM covers only the 
  10. the medium, research, assembly, production, packaging, and distribution  
  11. costs. The actual intellectual properties (that is, the programs) require
  12. separate payment to the author(s) if you are going to use them. These
  13. programs are "shareware." They are not free unless specifically identified
  14. as such.

  16. White menu entries with black text must be run from a hard disk. All other
  17. entries will run directly from the CD-ROM, although you will not be able
  18. to save games or reconfigure the options (you can't change CD-ROM contents).

  20. NeoSoft Corp. (Bend, Oregon) graciously consented to permit Aztech to use 
  21. their unregistered QuikMenu program. It is an elegant, simple and complete 
  22. menuing system that was designed for a networking environment. We have set 
  23. up all the games into submenus to make your selections effortless.

  28. Most of the programs run directly from this CD-ROM. To access the menu, 
  29. simply log on to your CD-ROM drive (eg D:) and type in GO.

  34. Please remember, QuikMenu is shareware and if you use it for other than the
  35. pre-determined menuing function of this CD-ROM, you must register QuikMenu
  36. with NeoSoft. You will find all the pertinent details in the QuikMen1 
  37. directory. The QUIKMENZ directory contains Aztech's game menu.

  39. The games may be run from the DOS prompt, without using the QuikMenu 
  40. program, by changing to the directory of the game that interests you.

  42. Then just type RUNME. 
  43.  
  44. Some games want to write a configuration file or a high score file to disk. 
  45. Since it is not possible to write information to a CD-ROM (Compact Disc-Read
  46. Only Memory), these programs can not write the required file(s) and may 
  47. therefore not run directly from the CD-ROM. We estimate perhaps less than
  48. 10% of the programs on this disc are like this. These games should be 
  49. copied to your hard disk or to a floppy.

  51. A few of the games may not have a "Quit" or "Exit" command - why? We may 
  52. never know. Sometimes the exit command is identified in the documentation - 
  53. but who reads documentation? First try the ESC (Escape) key. Then try 
  54. holding down the Ctrl (Control) key and pressing, one after the other, Q, W, 
  55. E, A, S, D, Z, X, C. Try the same with the Alt key. Failing all these, try 
  56. the "BREAK" key or holding down the CTL and/or ALT keys and then pressing 
  57. "BREAK." The preceding represent just about every conceivable exit command.

  59. When nothing else works, use the reboot function. Hold down the Ctrl 
  60. (Control) and Alt keys at the same time and then press Del (Delete).
