  16.     1.  Choose 'File' from the menubar
  17.     2.  Select 'Run'
  18.     3.  Type 'D:\NEW_VFW\SETUP.EXE'
  19.         (if your CD-ROM drive is a different letter,
  20.          substitute 'D' with the correct letter)
  21.     4.  Click 'OK' and follow the instructions.
  22.     5.  After restarting Windows, double click 
  23.         the Playgirl icon to start the program.

  26. ON SOME SYSTEMS, VFW 1.1 MAY CAUSE IMPROPER VIDEO PLAYBACK.
  27. VFW 1.0 HAS BEEN INCLUDED ON THE CD-ROM FOR THOSE SYSTEMS
  28. THAT RUN BETTER USING THE ORIGINAL VIDEO FOR WINDOWS.

  30. TO SWITCH BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW VERSIONS OF VFW, SIMPLY
  31. RUN THE 'SETUP.EXE' PROGRAM IN THE CORRESPONDING VFW DIRECTORY
  32. ON THE CD-ROM.

  37. NOTE:   Anywhere C:\PLAYGIRL is referred to below should be
  38.     read as the entry chosen during installation (if the
  39.     default was not used).

  42. IF PLAYGIRL OPERATES CORRECTLY, the following may be useful:
  43.     
  44.      - If the video has jerky playback, you may be able to improve
  45.     performance by selecting the 'Accelerated Video' in
  46.     the startup screen.  You may also find that a smaller
  47.     size video screen (chosen with the slider in the startup
  48.     screen) will play faster.  On some systems, switching
  49.     between the new and old versions of VFW may also help.
  50.  
  51.     NOTE: Accelerated video will suspend all controls during
  52.     video playback.  To regain control before the video ends,
  53.     use Ctrl-Break.

  57. IF PLAYGIRL DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY, the following may help you
  58. to diagnose and correct possible installation or driver problems.
  59.  
  60.  
  61. Error #1:    'There is an undetectable problem in loading the
  62.         specified device driver.'
  63. Problem:    Video for Windows is NOT installed
  64. Solution:    Install Video for Windows
  65.         - SEE ABOVE
  66.

  68. Error #2:    No Sound / 'No wave device that can play files
  69.         in the current format is installed.  Use the Drivers
  70.         option to install the wave device.'
  71. Problem:    Sound card and driver have not been correctly
  72.         installed.  Check the Drivers section of the control
  73.         panel to make sure that a wave driver is installed.
  74.         If one is installed, check to make sure it is operating
  75.         correctly.  If one is not installed, follow the
  76.         instructions for installing the Windows driver for your
  77.         sound card.

  81. Error #3:    The videos playback in strange colors    
  82. Problem:    Palette conflicts using VFW 1.1
  83.  
  84. Solutions:    1.  Run PlayGirl in 16-bit (65,000 colors)
  85.             or 24-bit (16.7 million colors) mode.
  86.          - or -
  87.         2.  Install the old version of VFW
  88.             a.  Choose 'File' from the menubar
  89.             b.  Select 'Run'
  90.             c.  Type 'D:\OLD_VFW\SETUP.EXE'
  91.             (if your CD-ROM drive is a different letter,
  92.             substitute 'D' with the correct letter)
  93.             d.  Click 'OK' and follow the instructions.
  94.             e.  After restarting Windows, double the
  95.             PlayGirl icon to start the program.

  98. Error #4:    Could not find the specified file.
  99. Problem:    Files are missing from the 'C:\PLAYGIRL' directory
  100.  
  101. Solution:    Reboot to exit the program.
  102.         Check to make sure all the files listed
  103.         below are in 'C:\PLAYGIRL' directory of your hard
  104.         drive.  Check the WIN.INI file for the following:
  105.             [Playgirl]
  106.             audio=c:\playgirl
  107.         Playgirl automatically sets this variable to the
  108.         directory from which 'PLAYGIRL.TBK' was launched
  109.         EVERY time it is run.

  117. The installation program installs the following files into a directory
  118. called "\PLAYGIRL":
