Learning The Internet
by
Terry A. Gray (C) 1994
This is an MS-DOS program designed as tutorials/simulations which teach
the use of the Internet. Modules include Getting A Connection, Modems,
Terminal Emulations, Internet Addressing, Logging In, Passwords, Telnet,
FTP, Archie, Finger, Gopher, Veronica, White Pages Services, WAIS, World
Wide Web, Unix Mail, Pine Email, Mailing Lists, Usenet Newsgroups, Unix
Commands, File Types, File Downloading, Internet Resources and more.
The program offers both instructional and interactive modules which
simulate being on the Internet. Each module provides the option of
printing a handy 1 page summary which can be used for reference during
live Internet sessions.
A color monitor is strongly recommended.
To run the program from a floppy disk:
1) Insert the disk in drive A: or B:.
2) Type A: or B: (as appropriate) and press Enter.
3) Type LI and press Enter.
To run the program from a hard drive:
1) Make a directory on your hard drive to hold the files.
The command MD LI will make a directory called LI. The
name of the directory is up to you.
2) Change to that directory. The command CD \LI will change
to the directory called LI.
3) Copy the files into that directory. If you are in the directory
called LI the command: copy A:*.* will copy all files from the
disk in drive A: into the directory called LI.
4) From that directory type LI and press Enter.
This is shareware. You are encouraged to copy and share it. If you like
it send $9.00 US Dollars to the author. The module "How To Use This
Tutorial" prints the registration form with author's address. Site license
for networks is $85.00 per network for unlimited workstations.
