  6. You can choose from 262,144 different colors for your text mode screens!

  11. WHAT IS PRISM?
  12.  
  13.        Prism is a shareware utility that will allow you to reset
  14.        the color attributes on your VGA screen.  Instead of having
  15.        to use DOS's 16 garish colors, you can create more pleasing
  16.        palettes of colors for use with ANY non-graphics program.

  19. HOW DO YOU USE PRISM?
  20.  
  21.        Create a subdirectory on your hard disk called PRISM.
  22.        Copy the files on this disk into the PRISM subdirectory.
  23.  
  24.        Add the PRISM subdirectory to the PATH command in your
  25.        AUTOEXEC.BAT file...
  26.  
  27.          or
  28.  
  29.        ...simply copy the P.BAT file to a subdirectory on the DOS path.
  30.        (P.BAT will allow you to access PRISM from any directory,
  31.        even if the PRISM subdirectory is not on the path.)
  32.        If you have a subdirectory where you store all your
  33.        utility programs or your batch files, this is the perfect
  34.        place to install P.BAT.

  37. TO LOAD PRISM
  38.  
  39.     1) Just enter:
  40.  
  41.            PRISM
  42.  
  43.              or
  44.  
  45.            P                            { if you have installed P.BAT }
  46.  
  47.        You will enter the PRISM editor.  PRISM's online help system
  48.        will show you how to use the program.  It's easy and fun.  You
  49.        can edit any of the 16 color attributes, mix them up, or restore
  50.        them to their original values.  You can save a palette file to
  51.        disk or load a previously edited palette file.
  52.  
  53.        PRISM does not blink onto your screen like other programs.  It
  54.        dissolves in.  If you want to change the rate of the dissolve,
  55.        you can use the Options/Dissolve Rate command from PRISM's main
  56.        menu.

  58.        If you want to disable the dissolve altogether, add a '/d' to
  59.        the command line when you enter the name of the program:

  61.           PRISM /d

  65.           P /d

  68.     2) Or, you can enter:

  70.           PRISM <palette file name>
  71.  
  72.             or

  76.        and PRISM will load that palette file as the active palette,
  77.        without entering the editor.

  80.     3) Or, you can enter:

  82.           PRISM <palette file name> <program name>

  88.        and PRISM will load the palette file as the active palette,
  89.        and then chain to the program.  When the program concludes
  90.        PRISM will restore the previously active palette.

  101.        If a palette has the same name as a program, PRISM will
  102.        load the palette first, and then chain to the program.
  103.        When the program concludes PRISM will restore the previously
  104.        active palette.

  106.        If you want to load a palette that has the same name as
  107.        a program, but you do not want to load the program, just
  108.        enter:

  110.           PRISM <palette/program name> /n
  111.

  114.           P <palette/program name> /n

  116.        The '/n' command tells PRISM not to load the program.

  119. IS THIS ALL THE DOCUMENTATION THERE IS?

  121.        Of course not.

  123.        PRISM contains nearly 60K of help screens.  Enter the PRISM
  124.        editor and press <F1><F1> to get to the Help Index.
  125.        PRISM's help screens will teach everything you need to know
  126.        to use the program effectively.  You will be creating bright
  127.        new colors for your VGA system within minutes.

  135. invited to post it on BBS systems and distribute it to users' groups.  You

  141.   PRISM   .EXE -- the amazing VGA palette editor.
  142.   P       .BAT -- a batch file for using PRISM from any subdirectory.

  144.                   palette files in the same subdirectory.
  145.   *       .PAL -- a variety of palette files demonstrating some of
  146.                   the palettes you can create with PRISM.
