  72. Uses an easy to remember transliteration scheme. A simple public domain
  73. editor is included. Includes a font editor for modifying existing
  74. fonts.

  76. Character size can be varied from 1/72 of an inch to 63/72 of an inch
  77. in 1/72 inch increments. Characters can be underlined, slanted,
  78. emphasized and background reversed.

  80. Character color and background color can be chosen from 16 different
  81. colors on EGA, VGA screens. On certain color dot matrix printers, they
  82. can be printed in color.

  84. Video tape titling and scrolling in Tamil is possible using VGA cards

  108. computer in 1984. The development of this software has taken several
  109. evenings of personal time and has been made available as a service to
  110. our community. The nominal registration cost covers only the cost of

  113. virus free copy directly from the author, a satisfaction of having
  114. contributed to the development of our language and culture and

  128. is even an association of shareware developers. Shareware software is
  129. not 'public domain' software nor is it 'freeware' or free software.
  130. The software is copyrighted just like other commercial software. You
  131. are allowed to copy it from other users and use it for evaluation
  132. purposes without any payment. However, it is your moral obligation to
  133. compensate for the expenses incurred by the author, by sending the
  134. registration fee, if you continue to use it on a regular basis. It can
  135. be copied and distributed to others provided, no fee is charged and
  136. the author is intimated of such a distribution promptly. These

  143. \(ROMAN) The installation customizes the batch file GO.BAT  for your
  144. graphic card. If you have a harddisk, create a sub-directory named
  145. TAMIL. Log on to that sub-directory. If you have no hardisk, log on to
  146. drive B. Place the original disk in drive A. \j

  151. \J Installation is optional. You can also use the programs T.EXE,
  152. P.EXE, directly. If your hard disk has versions of the ADAMI software
  153. 3.0 or earlier, you should convert them to normal files using ATTR
  154. command of DOS and delete all of them (except your own files) before
  155. installing the new software. Many of the files were read only. If you
  156. have created your own fonts using the version 7.0 or earlier, contact
  157. the author.

  159. Whenever you want to re-install or change the installation options,
  160. type INSTALL instead of GO anytime.

  162. \(ROMAN20) Operation\>
  163. \(ROMAN) Type GO Filename at the DOS Prompt. If you omit the filename,
  164. file with the name UNNAMED.TXT will be used. Press <SAVE> to save and
  165. preview the file. The transliterated text appears on the screen. The
  166. screen returns to the editor.  Press <PRINT> when ready to print on
  167. paper. To quit press the <QUIT> key. If you <SAVE> under a different
  168. name, it will be necessary to save and quit to DOS once, then start
  169. again with GO Filename. Otherwise the old file will continue to appear.

  171. \(ROMAN20) Preparing a text in Tamil\>
  172. \(ROMAN) Prepare a text in standard ASCII code, as it would be
  173. pronounced in English. The program has built in intelligence to choose
  174. the right Tamil word in most cases. The letters b, ch, d, dh, g, h, j,
  175. k, l, m, n, p, r, s, sh, t, th, v, x(ksha), y are pronounced as in
  176. English. The vowels and certain alphabets should follow the phonetic
  177. convention shown below. Note that with certain alphabets the upper case
  178. and lower case letters have different phonetics.\j
