Welcome to ED, a simple public domain word processing system.
The ED word processing disk should contain the following files:
READ
LESEN
LPRINT.EXE (1.1)
ENGLISH.DOC
DEUTSCH.DOC
------------
ED.EXE (1.11)
ED.DAT
PAGE.COM (1.0)
PRINT.COM (1.2)
PRINT.DAT
TEST.TXT
UNKNOWN.DAT
EPSONLQ.DAT
DIABLO.DAT
IBM5216.DAT
HPLJ.DAT
GR7.TBL
REPLA.EXE (1.0)
and maybe more '.DAT'- and '.TBL'-files. Please check if the
system is complete with the DOS 'DIR' command. Make copies
of your original disk and store the original in a safe place.
Output the documentation file on your printer using LPRINT.EXE
(don't try to use PRINT.COM for this purpose). Insert the disk
and enter 'LPRINT' at the DOS prompt. LPRINT prompts you for
entering the column to start print at. LPRINT allows you to
shift the text a little to the right on the paper (output leading
spaces). Then follows the line width (usually 80). Lines per
page: If you don't use endless paper, you should enter the number
of lines fitting on the page (sheet). LPRINT then pauses after
every page, to allow you to insert the next sheet of paper.
If you use endless paper, enter '0'. Filename: Enter
'ENGLISH.DOC', if you want the English language documentation,
'DEUTSCH.DOC' is in German.
Note that the '#'-character may print as '£' on some printers.
There is no '£' in the '.DOC'-files. You should avoid this
by switching your printer to U.S. ASCII or IBM character code.
