  108. . A new video option has been added, which allows you to force text display
  109.   to black and white.  This option was added primarily to support Braille
  110.   users with EGA video.  This option will work in conjunction with other
  111.   -v option switches.

  113.   In particular, if you are a Braille user with EGA, you should use
  114.   DiscPassage in the following manner:

  116.         dp -vtextonly -vmono
  117.   in order to view text properly on an EGA display, in black and white.
  118.   This option may also be helpful for display on some laptops.

  139. . When printing very wide tables (more than 100 characters wide), sometimes
  140.   the second page printed improperly.  This has been corrected.  Some medical
  141.   CD-ROM's contained a few wide tables which manifested this problem.

  147.   There is now a -vtextonly commandline option to suppress all images.  This
  148.   allows proper operation of EGA video cards, which may have had split text
  149.   displays (the new SVGA detection was the culprit).  This switch can also
  150.   be useful when running on a dual monitor system (say, both SVGA and MDA)
  151.   when text-only operation is desired.  Use this option as follows:

  161.   Support has been added for the newer Trident video cards with 1 Megabyte
  162.   of video memory on board.

  165. New features with version 1.2 of DiscPassage

  168. . Memory Usage
  169.   DiscPassage now uses virtual memory, so it will automatically take
  170.   advantage of any expanded or extended memory on your system.  It is
  171.   *very important* that you run the SETUP.EXE program provided with your
  172.   floppy update.  In particular, the software depends on an environment
  173.   variable, TMP, for its use of virtual memory.  This variable should be
  174.   set to a *writable* location.  If you run DiscPassage from the dp.bat
  175.   file (copied by SETUP to the root of your hard drive), you should not
  176.   experience any problems.
  177.  
  178.   The SETUP.EXE program will now create the appropriate commands in
  179.   dp.bat which set up the TMP environment string for proper execution.
  180.   However, if you have no environment space left, you may need to set TMP
  181.   yourself in your autoexec.bat, as follows:
  182.  
  183.     set TMP=c:\discpass
  184.  
  185.   with a writable location for the software to use during its operation
  186.   (i.e. it cannot be set to the CD-ROM drive).
  187.  
  188.   If you want to increase the size of your environment space (the default
  189.   size is 128 bytes for MS-DOS), you can add the following line to your
  190.   config.sys file:
  191.  
  192.     shell = c:\command.com /e:1024 /p
  193.  
  194.   where c:\ is the location of command.com, and you wish to increase the
  195.   environment size to 1024 bytes.
  196.  
  197. . Packed File Support
  198.   DiscPassage now supports large numbers of files on disc, and allows for
  199.   files to live in 'packages' for more efficient operation on MS-DOS.  This
  200.   operation is completely transparent to the operation of the software.
  201.   The benefit to you as a user is more efficient retrieval of files from
  202.   CD-ROM, in cases where a large number of files is present on disc.
  203.  
  204. . Pioneer Audio Fix
  205.   Forcing an alternate drive letter from the command-line, for multi-drive
  206.   units such as the Pioneer 6-disc changer (DRM-600), would only play
  207.   audio selections for subsequent discs (not the first selected, if it was
  208.   not the first drive letter on the system).  Audio is now functional for
  209.   all drive letters, even when the drive-override from command-line option
  210.   is used.  You need to have version 1.03 or greater of the Pioneer driver.
