BRGD5_0.TXT for IBM computers and compatibles. Oct 9, 1994
About This Contract Bridge DEMO Ver. 5.0
BIDDING
The bidding encourages bids in the major suits. The bidding
instructions are quite explicit and are available from the menus. To exit
requires only a single mouse click. Read these menu files for the details.
Bid magnitudes are highlighted pending suit selection. A 4 CLUB bid is
a CONVENTION asking for ACES even when clubs have been previously bid.
Respond 4 DIAMONDS for no ACES 4 HEARTS for 1 etc. A CONTINUATION reply
of 1 over your response asks for KINGS. Bid 1 over the response for no
KINGS, 2 for 1 KING etc.
PLAYING
In this game you play with a computer partner against two
computer opponents. You may replay the last hand as often as you like. The
score will not change during replays but will resume uninterrupted when a
new hand is dealt. A save score feature is also included.
Several options are available to suit different user preferences.
System Requirements
This game will work on CGA, EGA, VGA & SVGA systems. The maximum
screen size used is 640 X 400 pixels.
Color is typical but the program defaults to Black & White
when color is not supported.
The use of a Microsoft or Microsoft compatible mouse is
strongly recommended. A keyboard mouse simulation is
automatically invoked when no mouse driver is found. To use the
simulated mouse press the "+" and "-" keys to control the speed
of the mouse movement(One tap on the "+" key seems to be best).
The placement of the mouse is controlled by the arrow keys and
others. The "insert" key mimics the left mouse button, the "del"
key mimics the right button but is not used in this game. Users
should have at least 500k of ram.
INSTALLATION IN WINDOWS(GAME PORTFOLIO)
1. From your floppy copy BGD5_0.exe to Windows typically
in the c: directory c:\Windows using DOS or Windows File Manager.
2. If in Dos start Windows then exit the File Manager to get to the
Program Manager and double click on the Games ICON.
3. Click once on the Solitaire Icon to select it. Then under the FILE
menu select COPY. A Window opens asking you to copy Solitaire in
Group GAMES to GROUP ACCESSORIES. Change ACCESSORIES to GAMES and
click ok. You now have two solitaires with one highlighted.
4. Under the FILE menu select properties. Change the Description from
Solitaire to BGD5_0 and the Command line to BGD5_0.exe.
5. Next select CHANGE ICON. A Window opens and you will see a filename
for a DOS icon. Change this filename to C:\Windows\sol.exe as we
prefer to use the solitaire ICON. Click ok until you return to the
games window. Congratulations you have installed Bridge with an
appropriate CARD ICON. Double click on it to launch Contract Bridge.
