  99.      COLOR CROSS is a DOS based two-player strategy game requiring an
  100.      8086 series CPU, 300K of free RAM, VGA color graphics, and a
  101.      Microsoft compatible mouse and DOS resident mouse driver. Because
  102.      piece selections in COLOR CROSS require nimble mouse dexterity, you
  103.      may want to reduce your mouse's acceleration and sensitivity
  104.      settings before playing.
  105.  
  106.      CLX.EXE is the only essential file, and it will run from either a
  107.      floppy disk or hard drive. The file CLXSMPL.CXC may be opened from
  108.      within the game as an example of an initial board. REGISTER.DOC is
  109.      the program registration form; it may be opened and printed using
  110.      any text editor.
  111.  
  112.      When CLX.EXE is started, the user enters a character based shell
  113.      with two menus: »File« and »Game«. The menu items under »File«
  114.      enable you to open a board file, save a game in progress, or exit
  115.      the program. Under the »Game« menu, selecting the item »Play«
  116.      begins a new game or returns to the one in progress, and selecting
  117.      the item »Help« provides a detailed set of directions and
  118.      registration/copyright information.

  120.      Note: If you run COLOR CROSS from MS Windows 3.x and find that you
  121.      lose your mouse cursor, you must add a statement to your
  122.      AUTOEXEC.BAT file to load the MOUSE.COM driver from your Windows
  123.      directory. For a directory named WINDOWS on drive C, the statement
  124.      would be:

  128.      Comment out any other mouse drivers in AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS

  132.      Although it has no direct analog I know of, COLOR CROSS is a kind
  133.      of abstract board game. Like most abstract games, there is only a
  134.      small set of properties involving piece selections, motions, and
  135.      interactions to learn; but you must know them in order to play.
  136.      In conjunction with reading the directions carefully, I suggest
  137.      demonstrating the properties for yourself by running through
  138.      situations on the game board, which is fully editable. Generally,
  139.      someone who already knows the game can teach you very quickly.
  140.  
  141.      A few of the game properties such as the number of pieces on the
  142.      board, the initial board configuration, and the number of pieces
  143.      moved during a turn have been left open. See the section
  144.      RECOMMENDED PLAY in the »Help« window, which outlines a recommended
  145.      play scheme.
