  3. WHAT IS PUZZLER
  4. Puzzler is an automatic puzzle creator. You supply a list of words and clues,
  5. and puzzler will create a crossword, a wordsearch, and a wordscramble on
  6. demand. (The clues are optional for wordsearches and wordscrambles.)

  8. Enter up to fifty words in each list, and make the lists as easy or as
  9. difficult as you want. You have complete control. Once you've created the list,
  10. choose the puzzle options and Puzzler does the rest of the work automatically
  11. and quickly!

  14. USES FOR PUZZLER
  15. Since only YOUR words and clues are included in puzzles, the puzzles can be
  16. tailored for specific purposes. Having a party? Make up questions about your
  17. guests, and help them get to know each other better, or just make up silly
  18. questions to get them laughing. Want to stump friends or family members?
  19. Challenge them to a puzzle duel. Are the kids asking, "What can I do now?"
  20. Create a puzzle for them, or have them create one for you. Want to share your
  21. family history or accomplishments? Mail out copies of a puzzle or pass them
  22. out at a family reunion. Want to spice up your newsletter? Include a puzzle to
  23. "test" reading comprehension. Are the kids tired of studying? Have them create
  24. puzzles "instead," then have a race and see if you know as much as they do.
  25. You can probably think of a way to use puzzles for just about any kind of
  26. activity.

  28. Some sample word lists are included to get you started, and you'll soon be
  29. generating your own. The lists can be saved for later use or loaded by an
  30. ASCII capable editor for spell checking or other modifications.

  32. Remember, you can create a crossword, AND a wordsearch, AND a wordscramble
  33. from the same list. In fact, you can even create multiple, different
  34. crosswords, wordsearches, and wordscrambles from the same list. Practically
  35. speaking, the combinations are unlimited.

  38. CROSSWORDS
  39. Puzzler creates the simple style of crossword like the ones in children's
  40. activity books. This type of crossword is ideal for the uses outlined above.
  41. Of course, Puzzler numbers the boxes for you, sorts the clues into across and
  42. down sections, and prints a nicely formatted crossword.

  44. Before printing the crossword, you can view many different crossword patterns
  45. on the screen, and then print only the ones you like best. If you have more
  46. than thirty words in your list, Puzzler may not immediately be able to use all
  47. of them but if you let it keep trying, you can often get over forty words in
  48. one crossword!

  51. WORDSEARCH
  52. You choose the size of the wordsearch, and whether diagonal and backward 
  53. words are allowed. When printing, you can choose whether words, clues,
  54. words and clues, or nothing should be printed. You decide how much to aid
  55. (or inhibit) the searchers!

  58. WORDSCRAMBLE
  59. A wordscramble is a list of words with the letters in each word jumbled up.
  60. Puzzler's wordscramble can print the clues as hints, or print the scrambled
  61. words all by themselves.

  64. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
  65. Puzzler is a DOS program. It will run under OS/2 or Windows if desired.
  66. Puzzler includes the following printer drivers:

  74. 8.  LaserJet III or IV in HPGL/2 mode
  75. 9.  Postscript printer
  76. 10. Epson & Compatible 9 Pin COLOR
  77. 11. Epson & Compatible 24 Pin COLOR

  79. You may not have one of these printer brands, but your printer is most
  80. likely compatible with one of them.

  82. LICENSING
  83. You can download a shareware version of Puzzler (PUZZLER.ZIP). There are no
  84. disabled features and there is no time limit on its use. There are simple
  85. registration reminders and the crossword will print a single line at the
  86. bottom of the page stating that it was printed with an unregistered version
  87. of Puzzler.

  89. The Puzzler registration fee is reasonable. Budget registration is only $10.
  90. Premium registration is $25. If you pay the premium registration fee, you will
  91. get a manual, a disk with the latest version, and more sample puzzles.
  92. Site licenses are also available. Puzzler tech support is available via 
  93. electronic mail, or the US postal service.
