Hey! Thanks for checking out Get Lost!, a great new 3d first-person maze
game. We hope that you enjoy playing our shareware version and that you'll
go to our web site and grab the REGISTERED version! You can find it at
http://www.bombadil.com
You can use your credit card to get the game immediately! In just the few
minutes it takes to download, you can have the FULL registered version of Get
Lost!
NOT YOUR TYPICAL LEGAL DISCLAIMER
---------------------------------
You know and I know that computers, due to their immense complexity, are
inherently unreliable. Programs crash, hard drives fail, monitors blowup,
and meteors fall from the sky--these are almost always not my fault. And
they are almost always not your fault either (although I'm not too sure
about those meteors). Taking this into consideration, I expect all these
things and more to happen while you are playing my game. I have done
everything in my power to make this game as robust and forgiving as possible.
And I really don't wish these horrible things on anybody.
So the typical thing here is to deny responsibility for any disaster
which may or may not be the result of running this program. I'll go one
better. If you find a repeatable bug in the registered version of this game
and can describe it in 500 words or less, send the company a letter or e-mail
or whatever and I'll do my best to:
1) repeat it myself,
2) fix it,
3) send you a copy of the corrected game, or
4) a sad story about how the bug beat me (which so far has never
happened).
Now I'm talking about REAL BUGS, not just something like, "You misspelled
the word 'mispelled' in your README.TXT." This is something that actually
prevents you from finishing the game or somehow greatly diminishes your
enjoyment of the game. Oh yes, I'm not going to support this thing
forever, so don't be surprised if I grunt at you for showing me a bug 5
years from from now. Lastly, I did not write the sound drivers; I bought
a sound package from Human Machine Interface (Eugene, Oregon). Since I
don't have control over the sound system, I of course can't support bugs
with the sound. Sorry.
Lastly, Tom Bombadil's Software Emporium and House of Curiosities can't
afford a lawyer. So if you decide to sue us, it won't be very profitable.
We're in the business to feed us just enough to make the next game. Try
suing someone who does have money, like Microsoft or Electronic Arts. I
know for a fact that their products are far more buggy and likely to
destroy lives than anything ever produced here.
SHAREWARE RULEZ! STOP THINKING, ADOPT CATCHY SLOGANS! ETCETERA!
