  4. | The program doesn't run at all ! |
  5. +----------------------------------+
  6. If Pray for Death will not run, this is most likely attributed to insufficient
  7. XMS memory or insufficient Conventional memory. Pray for Death requires 7100KB
  8. of XMS memory and 530KB of Conventional memory. You can find out how much XMS
  9. and Conventional memory you have available by typing mem at the DOS prompt.
  10. If you do not have the needed amount you have two options:
  11.  
  12. 1) Modify your existing config.sys and autoexec.bat files to not load
  13.    any unneeded drivers.
  14.  
  15. WARNING: If you don't known how to modify autoexec.bat and config.sys
  16.          ask an expert or check your DOS manual.
  17.  
  18. 2) Create a boot disk (section for an MS-DOS\MS-DOS mode system).
  19.    This is explained below.
  20.    Here's how to do it:
  21.    1.  Grab a floppy disk
  22.    2.  Format the disk, at the c: prompt type "format a: /s" (without
  23.        quotes) and press ENTER, you will be prompted for a label,
  24.        press ENTER for none.
  25.        You will also be prompted to format another, press N for no.
  26.    3.  Copy your config.sys and autoexec.bat to your floppy. From C:\
  27.        type "copy config.sys a:" (press ENTER) and 
  28.        "copy autoexec.bat a:" (press ENTER)
  29.    4.  Change to the a: drive
  30.  
  31.     All the marked lines below are system dependent.
  32.     Please refer to the footnotes below for more info.

  34.    5.  Type "edit config.sys" (press ENTER) and modify it to match
  35.        the following:
  36.               DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
  37.               DOS=HIGH
  38.               FILES=40
  39.               BUFFERS=30
  40.      (*1) DEVICE=C:\SB16\DRV\SBIDE.SYS /D:MSCD0011
  41.    6.  Remove any unnecessary lines.
  42.    7.  Press ALT-F, this will bring up the File menu. Then press X to exit.
  43.        When it asks you if you want to save your file choose Yes.
  44.    8.  Type "edit autoexec.bat" (press ENTER) and modify it to match
  45.        the following:
  46.               @ECHO OFF
  47.               PROMPT $P$G
  48.               PATH=C:\DOS
  49.               C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD000 /M:15
  50.          (*2) SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6
  51.          (*2) C:\SB16\SB16SET /M:220 /VOC:220 /CD:220 ...
  52.          (*2) C:\SB16\SBCONFIG.EXE /S
  53.    9.  Remove any unnecessary lines.
  54.    10. Press ALT-F, this will bring up the File menu. Then press X to exit.
  55.        When it asks you if you want to save your file choose Yes.
  56.    11. Leave the boot disk you just created in the a: drive and
  57.        restart your system.
  58.    12. Change to the directory where you installed the game and type pray.

  62. 1 This line is an example of what this line should look like. You can identify
  63.   this line by looking for the /d:mscd001 (or something very similar).
  64.   It should not need to be modified.
  65.   Please reference the Help booklet for examples.

  67. 2 The following are examples of sound card lines. Your system may have more or
  68.   less than 3 of them. They should not need to be modified.

  74. You need at least 20 files in your configuration.
  75. Check that the line FILES=20 is in your CONFIG.SYS.

  80. Before playing Pray run the config program from the DOS prompt to configure
  81. your sound card (to do this type config). If you don't known your sound card
  82. settings try the suggested defaults (the numbers in parenthesis).
  83. Otherwise check your sound cards manual to discover your correct
  84. configuration.

  89. Change the volume on your sound card and then run Pray. If you have
  90. Windows '95 you will have to set the volume within Windows.
  91. NOTE : To hear the music your CD-ROM drive MUST be connected to your
  92.          audio card!

  95. | The Keyboard configuration doesn't work |

  97. The on screen keys are from the USA standard keyboard. If your keyboard is
  98. different you may see a different picture to the key you selected.
  99. Don't worry the program will remember which key you selected.
  100. If you type a key and nothing appears on screen the key is in use by the
  101. other player.

  106. This is a hardware problem. When you push more than one key at the same
  107. time not all combinations are properly handled from all keyboards.
  108. Try a different key configuration.

  113. Do you like Pray? Yes? Ok... The bigger the installation you use the faster
  114. loading time you will get.
