THRED README.TXT
STOP! Read License.txt before you do anything else.
Ok, now that that's done...
NEW STUFF:
This version introduces a texturemapped preview window. To use it
just select "Texture View" from the view menu. It acts exactly the
same as the "solid gons" window does, but it has textures. :)
I have not used this version a lot, but it does seem to be a bit more
resource hungry than previous versions of Thred have been, so beware.
Also, this is beta software. Back up everything before using this. I
make no promises that this thing is safe.
OLD STUFF:
This is a beta copy of Thred. It is NOT a public beta. You are free to
use this version of Thred within the limits of the license that
accompanies Thred.
Like I said, this is not a public beta of Thred. We are still working on
it and have a long list of bugs that we are working on. We want you to be
able to use Thred if you like, but we don't want any input on Thred right
now. Please just use this software. We know that you will have some
problems with Thred and we are sorry about that. We're working to fix
Thred, but thought that it was time to let everyone use it.
The THRED TUTORIAL is included with Thred. I have spent many hours on this
and I know it's still pretty thin. If you have read the tutorial and still
cannot figure out something, look on the Thred Tips and Tricks page at this
URL: http://www.visi.com/~neckro/quake/thred.html
KNOWN BUGS:
Don't use quake101.wad or other huge wad files with Thred. It will generate
an "Unable to create empty document" error if you do.
.map support is very limited.
Group movement may not be saving in the .3dt file like it should.
THINGS TO DO:
Unzip Thred into \quake\thred, it's the best place for Thred. Then read
the tutorial while you have Thred running. Read it all, as there are a
lot of things in there that describe both how to use Thred and how to make
things in Quake.
Have fun! :)
