- WHATSNEW.xxx
- ------------
- This text files details the changes in the MusicEase program from the
- release of version 4.0. Your printed reference manual may not include
- these changes.
-
-
- Version 4.23 - released 14-Feb-96
-
- - Bug fixed in print preview colors.
-
- - Bug fixed in breaking systems containing more than 1 staff.
-
- - Bug fixed when decreasing the justified width of a note (View Note-
- width command).
-
- - Bug fixed when starting a piece with a new page command.
-
-
- Version 4.20 - released 10-Sep-95
-
- - The printed reference manual was updated to include all changes
- up to and including v4.20.
-
- - Added ability to save the first page specified in Print Options as
- a standard TIFF graphic file (less any "text" as MusicEase does not
- have its own internal fonts).
-
- - Improved performance of automatic tie placement for notes lying
- outside of a staff.
-
- - Improved operations regarding measures with whole rests and key
- changes.
-
- - The [ALT]-[_] speed key was changed to allow values of 1 and 0.
-
- - The "Composer" and "Lyricist" fields now print a value of a period
- as a "blank". This allows the addition of more space before the 1st
- staff via the last field in Print Layout Options.
-
- - Changed the [CTRL]-[O] speed key, so that it now redisplays the
- current system when in edit mode.
-
- - Improved the preformance of the View Shift Hyphen option, the "after"
- grace notes, and justification with invisible meters.
-
- - Added a new "0" (zero) speed key, which invokes the Insert Ending
- menu directly while editing, and moves the cursor to the beginning
- of the next measure when done.
-
- - Added an "AutoSave" feature. Under the Options menu, selecting the
- Autosave option allows you to turn this on/off, and to change the
- minimum number of keystrokes/seconds after which the current piece
- is automatically saved. The Autosave feature will save the current
- piece in the current subdirectory under the filename MUSICEZ.ASV.
- In the event of a catastrophic error, the autosaved piece can be
- recovered by loading the file using the Transfer Load command.
-
- Initially the number of keystrokes is set to 10 and the number of
- seconds to 5. Thus the current piece will be autosaved whenever
- a minimum of 10 keystrokes have been entered after the last auto-
- save and there is a pause of 5 seconds.
-
-
- Version 4.13 - released 08-Feb-95
-
- - Corrected a minor bug in the "[" and "]" speed keys.
-
- - Corrected a minor bug in the View Shift Hyphen function.
-
- - Since these problems were extremely obscure, there was no wide-
- spread distribution of this release.
-
-
- Version 4.12 - released 11/07/94
-
- - Corrected a printing problem that effected LaserJet II printers.
-
-
- Version 4.11 - (Registered versions released 10/25/94)
- (Shareware version released 10/29/94):
-
- - Corrected problem with DeskJet printer output file not being sent
- to the printer.
-
- - Adjusted margin settings in DeskJet mode.
-
-
- Version 4.10 - released 10/14/94 (was not distributed)
-
- - Now includes support for Hewlett-Packard DeskJet printers. Please
- refer to the text file named DESKJET.INF for important information
- regarding this printer.
-
- - The [F3] function key now works similarly to its DOS function, in
- that it will generally repeat the last string of characters entered.
-
- - Several problems dealing with "tablature" mode have been corrected.
-
- - A problem dealing with isolated periods in lyric lines has been fixed.
-
- - A problem dealing with invisible meters has been fixed.
-
- - Both the "View Options Beam" settings are now saved along with the
- score, and restored when the saved score is loaded.
-
- - Interactive Registration module has been removed from the program.
-
-
- Version 4.04a - released 04/29/94:
-
- - No changes to the program itself:
-
- - Corrected an error in the on-disk manual (MUSICEZ.DOC). In appendix
- 2, in reference to the capabilities of the Professional version to
- enlarge/reduce scores, add "(laser printers *only)" notation.
-
-
- Version 4.04 - released 04/28/94:
-
- - Fixed bug in the View Shift Hyphen option.
-
- - The Insert Meter command now has a new field, in which the meter can
- be made invisible. This facilitates repeats to the middle of measures
- (resulting in a measure with fewer beats than specified by the meter)
-
- - The View Options Initial-meter option has been eliminated, since the
- new Insert Meter command can be used for the same purpose.
-
- - The View Options Tie command has been eliminated. All ties now consist
- of a curved line.
-
- - The View Options Slur command has been eliminated. All slurs also now
- consist of a curved line.
-
- - Added a new speed key: [ (left square bracket) - this speed key shifts
- the current note down 1 octave (if it is a sounded note), and then
- moves the cursor to the next note.
-
- - Added a new speed key: ] (right square bracket) - this speed key
- shifts the current note up 1 octave (if it is a sounded note), and
- then moves the cursor to the next note.
-
- - The current filename can be displayed in a running header by using the
- string "(File)" (without the quote characters), similar to the
- "(Page)" feature that is used for the current page number.
-
-
- Version 4.03 - released 02/28/94:
-
- - Fixed bug in the Layout option; program would not accurately
- accept dimensional input when set to Centimeter (Cm) rather
- than Inches (In).
-
- - Fixed bug which occurred when a multiple measure rest was followed
- by a clef change. It also now allows one to enter things like "3:2"
- in the last field of Insert Tuplet.
-
- - Fixed bug in the MIDI import/export routines.
-
- - Fixed bug in the Justify command, which would generate system
- error messages (non-Professional version only).
-
- Version 4.02 - released 01/10/94:
-
- - This fixes one bug dealing with accidentals. Specifically when a
- chord with a down stem has two adjacent pitches both of which
- require accidental signs - they were not automatically shifted
- left properly.
-
- Version 4.01 - released 11/24/93:
-
- - The version number has changed to 4.01.
-
- - The "Choose computer type" msg no longer appears
-
- - The "tr2" symbol now works in Insert Overlay
-
- - When in the registration form portion of the program, a Credit Card
- message now appears when the price field is active. Credit Card
- information also now appears on the printed invoice.
-
- - For the "Registered" and "Professional" versions of MusicEase, the
- initial screen and the welcome screen have been combined into one
- screen which waits for a keypress from the user. For the unregistered
- version there are still two separate screens but each now requires a
- keystroke to pass by.
