A few years ago, inspired by the wo fellow robot enthusiast Mark Pauline, he had a brilliant idea: why not stage a demolition derby, but take the humans out of the equation? With no drivers to risk getting hurt, the destructive power of a machine would be limited only by the laws of physics and their creator's devious imagination. The carnage-and hence the entertainment value-would increase a hundredfold, creating the perfect spectator sport: a two-day long, injury-free car crash.
