Labels:text | plant | tree OCR: Scrub is the name we give to the tangles of bushes and small trees which appear in clumps across areas of downland and heathland. Scrub has always been around and in fact is a middle stage between grassland and woodland. If nothing was done to the grassland, the areas of scrub would invade and grow larger, smothering the grassland and eventually turning to woodland. This process is called succession.
