Thomas Broadwood, a famous piano maker bought the nearby Juniper Hall in 1814 and added to the landscape by building a folly. The circular tower built of flint is called Broadwood's Folly and looks out over Juniper Hall. Juniper Hall was also, for a time, the home for a distinguished group of French aristocrats and refugees from the Revolution of 1789.
