Wicken Fen is the result of use over many years by people as a source for food, building materials and fuel and agriculture. The Fen is one of the oldest nature reserves in Britain and is managed as a very special place. Much time and effort goes into its care. The Trust lays out the aims of the management of the Fen in a plan. One of the secrets of keeping Wicken in good order, is to continue some of the practices which have been used over the centuries, and have created the habitats.
